I do love a craft kit and was delighted to be sent some of the new range of re.cycle.me craft kits to try out with the children. We love junk modelling and always seem to have a full recycling bin, perfect for turning cardboard tubes and bottles into something else with the help of a re.cycle.me kit.

Recycling the recycling with re.cycle.me craft kits

With the objective to introduce more sustainable toys within the arts and crafts category Recycle Me was created. The overall goal is to teach children and parents to use household disposables and creatively turn them into toys and arts, bringing awareness on the waste we produce. Inside the box you will find the instruction manual, accessories and paints. You just need to supply the recyclables.

We received the Games Box to try out. The box contains different materials to create different games. You only have to collect toilet rolls, egg boxes, cans, glue and scissors yourself! Our kit included stickers, coloured paper, paint, pipe cleaners and more.

We looked through the instruction booklet and decided what to make first, collecting up anything we needed. My daughter loved the projects which included skittles with bottles, a fishing game, bowling with tin cans, a marble game and a shark eating fish game. She enjoyed making the shark eating fish. All we needed to provide was an empty bottle and egg carton. It even inspired her to make more sea animals out of the recycling!

Then she made the marble game from cardboard tubes.

Our favourite was the tin can bowling game. She had to be a little patient if we didn’t have enough material. We ate the food we needed so she could get the right cans and then she was able to put the large stickers on them. It was raining yesterday but that didn’t stop her from setting up her own bowling alley in the kitchen! You can see that the dog wanted to join in the fun!

The re cycle me kit has provided hours of fun for my daughter. It’s been a great activity whilst we are staying at home, something hands on is a great balance to the school work we are doing in the mornings. It’s also a really fun way to show children that recycling can be re-used in such a fun way.
