I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.
Monday Happy List {Week 274}
It was pretty tough going back to work and back to school last week. A lot of the kids after school clubs started too which meant we were super busy. The days seem so short in Winter but I am holding on to the fact they are already getting a little longer each day!
The first week of life with a puppy was pretty strange. He loves to play and bite so we spent much of the week trying to figure out how to stop him. We bought a few books and asked some friends for advice and think we are slowly cracking it. He’s very cute most of the time and we love having him around. It took a while but we also finally decided to call him Chewie, after Chewbacca from Star Wars.
I really wanted to get out for some fresh air over the weekend. During the week I leave home when it’s dark and pick the kids up when it’s dark. It makes me miserable so I wanted to be out in daylight! On Saturday we visited Eastcote House Gardens which is really near us. There’s a beautiful walled garden and loads of signs of Spring, from catkins to primroses.Â
It’s important to make time to do the things you love and I’ve spent some time finishing the backing of my Shipping Forecast Quilt. I wrote an update post as it’s been so long in the making but it’s coming together really well. We’re off to the seaside over half term so I’ll be packing it and taking it with us – fingers crossed there will be crafting time with two kids and a new pup!
On Sunday we went for a long walk around the Aquadrome at Rickmansworth. It will be a few more weeks before we can take our puppy out but it’s a lovely place to walk. The children took their scooters and we walked about 2.5 miles which made us all feel better. We stopped for lunch at The Cafe in the Park which is always delicious and rammed with families.
Have a great week everyone!

Ah Chewie is such a cute name, how lovley to get a puppy, but I don’t envy you the house training. Good to get out the house and get some frsh air, I’m off to do the same in a minute. Mich x
What a lovely post, your puppy is so cute and love his name. I remember the biting and chewing days with ours when he was a pup, they do grow out of it eventually x
Aww your puppy is so cute! I do love the idea of writing a post on monday to reflect your week.
Oh bless you – good luck with the puppy training! They can be crazy work haha! But so cute so worth it.
Sounds like a good week. Your puppy is adorable and I love the name. Your blanket is gorgeous. I found getting back into the school run was hard.
Your puppy is so cute! I used to hate leaving for work and getting home in the dark too.
Oh my goodness Chewie is so cute, I am trying to persuade my husband that we need a puppy!
I love your new puppy and his name. Ithe must have been quite hard leaving him to go back to work.
Awww such a cute puppy! Our puppy is 6 months old now but those first few weeks were a lot for us all to get used to! She fell over Christmas and fractured her pelvis but is already on the mend and there is no stopping here.
Oh my goodness, your puppy is adorable. Hope she isn’t keeping you up all hours
Love your homemade quilt, it’s really gorgeous! And your new puppy is just so adorable!
The reality of after school clubs being back on has hit us this week too. Feels much later than it is when I’m driving them around in the dark – but the lighter nights are on their way.
