I found a lovely vintage toy last week which I snapped up as soon as I saw it! It was in the ‘cabinet’ where they place the items of higher value but it was marked a reasonable sum.
I love the bright colours of the humming top and it’s illustrated with the characters from the nursery rhyme ‘Hey diddle diddle’. It was made by Chad Valley in England – I am a complete sucker for vintage British toys. Fortunately it’s not too big so will look great on a shelf in the nursery (I just need to persuade my husband to put up another shelf!).

Very cute! I wouldve snatched it up too! I love old toys also 🙂
Only today I looked online trying to find this toy for my little girl and here is your post! 🙂
That’s gorgeous. Love the colours on it.
I managed to find an American one in my Salvation Army shop a couple of months back, I was expecting it to be a lot of money, but it was very reasonable. Maybe charity shops haven’t cottoned on to these ind of collectibles yet – shhhhhh!
Fantastic find !
Gorgeous! Woolies toys in their heyday 🙂
Oh that is gorgeous – I love it x
A really lovely item. My mum often finds wonderful toys second hand but I just don’t have the knack (or perhaps she is just lucky with the charity shops near her)
I am sure I had one just like this
Superb. Love it.
Verra nice!
That takes me back – I remember having one as a child! Now I feel old!
The Chad Valley ones are so collectable now—my mum still has a couple tucked away from when we were kids, and the colours on those diddle diddle toys really do pop. Good luck with that shelf negotiation, I’ve been waiting three years for mine to go up.
