It’s one of our family traditions that during the Summer holidays we’ll have a trip to Legoland Windsor. This year 365 Tickets kindly gifted us a family ticket so we could visit this weekend. I was a bit worried about spending all day outdoors but we packed water, hats, more water and sun tan lotion and set off bright and early.
Keeping the kids busy at Legoland Windsor
Legoland Windsor actually opens at 9.30 which gives you half an hour to park, get through the bag check and have a quick loo break before any of the rides open. We make sure to do this to maximise our day. I would also take the opportunity to pick up a leaflet with the times of shows on. We didn’t do this and missed watching the new Lego Ninjago show in the 4D cinema – read our review of the 4D cinema here.
As the children are a bit older this year we bought QBots to make sure we could go on their favourite rides. These help you join a special queue which shortens the waiting time for each ride. QBots are super expensive but worth it for us. We only bought 2 so we took it in turns to use it and take the children on the rides they really wanted to go on, such as the Pirate Falls Treasure Quest ride.
However you don’t need a QBot. As well as all the rides there are several other things to do which are included in your ticket. These include the Duplo Splash Safari and Drench Towers, Miniland, the Imagination Theatre, the Duplo Theatre puppet show and the Pirates of Skeleton Bay stunt show.
What’s new for 2018?
There were several new attractions for 2018 and these included Miniland Explore the World as well as the Miniland USA, Lego Reef and the Lego Ninjago Master of the 4th Dimension screening at the 4D cinema. They currently have the Summer of Fun Beach Party so we got to see the sand sculptures, the sandy beach and meet the Lego Sea Captain.
We had an amazing day, staying until the park closed at 6pm. We managed to visit most of the different themed areas including Lego Ninjago World, Land of the Vikings, Lego City, Knights Quest, Pirate Shores, Miniland, Duplo Valley and the Imagination Centre. We didn’t make it to Heartlake City, Adventure Land or Kingdom of the Pharaohs. I’m glad the children are a little older and we get to explore more of the park on each visit. I love to see different things each year and it’s clear that they spend a lot of time updating it for visitors.
There were some bits we didn’t manage to see but we did pretty well considering the blanket sunshine and heat. We tried to stay in the shade, drank lots of water and let the kids cool down at Drench Towers.

Legoland always looks like so much fun, both of my kids have been with grandparents and I’m rather jealous as I never seem to be available to join in the fun 🙁
I am super jealous. I always wanted to go when I was a kid and never got to go! It’s amazing what they can make out of lego!!
We went a year ago and we need to go back as it was really busy meaning we got on 3 rides I wasn’t happy as we had travelled from Yorkshire and obviously it’s so expensive to get in.
We love our trips to Legoland and I love that they mix it up with so many new things each season. Definitely somewhere that’s always on our summer visit list.
