I had a tidy up of our craft materials yesterday when the kids were at school. When they got home they saw what I had been doing and wanted to get everything out! I love a bit of after school crafting. It’s the perfect way to wind down after a busy day at school and a great way to talk to my children about what they’ve been up to. They are usually so engrossed with their crafting that they actually talk to me about their lessons or who they played with.

How to make a Christmas button wreath decoration
My 5 year old looked through the button box, picking out all the green buttons she could find.
We had a craft foam wreath shape but you can easily make your own from a piece of craft foam. My 7 year old attached the green buttons to the wreath shape with foam pads.
These were quite small but great for practising those fine motor skills! As the foam pads were raised it also gave the wreath a bit of depth. My 5 year added a few red buttons to make it look like holly and ivy.
We finished off our button wreath with a length of gold ribbon so we can hang it on our tree when it goes up next month.
