Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

Posted on November 20, 2017 by jenny

I’m so happy to be sitting down and having the chance to write this blog post after an epic weekend. It feels like I had a 3 day weekend as my husband took Friday off, which was rare and lovely. But first let me tell you about the 5 things which made me happy over the last 7 days.

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

On Wednesday I went into London for a BritMums/YouTube event. I’ve really enjoyed growing my YouTube channel this year so was really looking forward to learning some tricks to improve my videos. I have to admit the day wasn’t as interesting as I hoped, which was a shame following the amazing day I had thanks to Mumsnet micro-influencer day the week before.  It was pretty cool being at YouTube Space London but apart from the session on YouTube analytics I didn’t learn anything. It felt very much focussed on young mums who vlog about their babies which just isn’t me. YouTube Space London is at Kings Cross so I got time to shop at St Pancras – John Lewis, Cath Kidston, Paperchase and Kikki.K.

The 17th Of November has been marked in my calendar for weeks as it was the day that Twelve Tales of Christmas by Tom Chaplin was released. I love Tom Chaplin, and saw him perform at Pizza Express a few months ago when he mentioned he had something new coming out. His new album is great, including covers of well known Christmas songs including Walking in the Air, Stay Another Day and Say Goodbye. My Twelve Tales of Christmas advent calendar also arrived. I usually don’t bother with an advent calendar for myself but this was one I couldn’t resist!

On Friday my husband and I went Christmas shopping in Watford. I had the biggest list of places to visit and presents to pick up and I crossed every single thing off my list. It felt good to achieve so much but was pretty exhausting so we treated ourselves to a yummy Five Guys for lunch 🙂

There was no time to sit and relax at the weekend. We picked up my daughter’s Beavers uniform as she is being invested this evening. And then we spent Saturday ferrying her between birthday parties. Parents can be so creative with birthday parties and we went to an amazing Pokemon themed one.

Yesterday was my daughter’s 6th birthday party at Jurassic Perk in Ruislip. It’s a dinosaur themed soft play cafe which was the perfect venue for her and her friends to jump around for a few hours. We had a PJ Masks birthday cake for her too. It was a lovely party and she was totally spoilt with presents. Some friends came back after the party for a playdate and the crazy kids were playing outside in the cold sunshine all afternoon.

Here’s hoping for a quiet week to recover from last week!

The dinosaur soft play sounds like fun, and you were in my hometown when you were shopping. Watford isn’t too bad is it?! x

I hate to say this but I have never been to Five Guys!! That burger looks amazing though and I definitely have to go soon. Fab cake too – my little brother would have loved it!

It’s a shame the event for YouTube wasn’t as good as you were hoping. I’ve still got to do my Christmas shopping yet!

Glad you managed to get everything you wanted when shopping – it feels good to be organised doesn’t it? x
