Curtains for the playhouse

how to personalise a playhouse

Today I crossed something off my to do list which has been on it for over a year. I made curtains for the children’s playhouse. You probably think that I should have made these at the start of the summer but I just never had the time.

So let’s gloss over the fact that I bought the fabric last year from Ikea. I picked something bright and colourful which would complement our playhouse. You may remember we have a cute wooden playhouse at the bottom of the garden.

As soon as we built it we painted it in two tones. We’ve had it for four years and it’s looking pretty good considering the use it gets during the warmer months. It’s pretty cosy and a great place for the children to sit and play inside. We’ve kitted it out with a rug and it even has a removeable blackboard/whiteboard which can be placed on the outside.

The children decided they wanted curtains so we bought the fabric, some flexi net rod and hooks. My husband even put up the hooks, but the curtains never got made.

Fast forward 12 months and the playhouse curtains are finally up. My daughter was off school today (yes, already!) but I managed to measure and cut the fabric, pin and stitch them using my trusty sewing machine.

Thankfully this was the last job on the playhouse. The curtains face out so everyone can see the fabric pattern!

I’m hoping there will be a few more nice days so that the kids can play outside after school and at the weekend. Fingers crossed they appreciate their new playhouse curtains!

That playhouse is a labor of love and I know your kids will love it very much.
