Star Wars Story Stones

Star Wars Story Stones {A-Z Play at Home}

Posted on September 8, 2017April 15, 2018 by jenny

Now the children are back at school I have started to get some play prompts ready for them when they get home. The first few days they just wanted to play on the PS4 or watch YouTube. In understand they’re tired but I really don’t want them to get in the habit of switching on and zoning out.

My 7 year old loves to create, I guess that’s why he loves Minecraft, so I left out some smooth stones and Posca pens. These are great for drawing on almost any surface and we use them quite a lot.

Star Wars Story Stones

My son loves Star Wars so I suggested he use the pens to decorate the stones with as many different Star Wars symbols. These would then act as a prompt for story telling. Here’s how he made his Star Wars Story Stones.

I helped him with the first one and printed out a sheet of the different logos for inspiration. He really embraced this idea and I found him making more this morning before breakfast!

With some he drew on his design first in pencil. With others he just used the Posca pens straight on them. Any mistakes can be wiped off with a wet tissue. As well as Star Wars symbols he added his favourite characters such as Jabba the Hutt, as well as lightsabers.

Star Wars Story Stones

Painted rocks have been cropping up all over our little village so we’re going to leave some of ours for others to find and see if we can find any.

Today I’m taking part in the A-Z Play at Home blog hop with the letter S. See what others have made:

    This is a fab idea and I love that you are leaving them in the village for others to find

    I love these! My daughter isn’t into Star Wars and is probably a bit young to do them herself, but I could make some for her to use. Letters of the alphabet could be great for helping us learn them. Does the pen stay on or rub off with water?
