We’ve had a run of beautiful but cold days recently. These are my favourite winter days and we’ve all wanted to be outside before coming back in to warm up with a hot chocolate! Over the weekend we spent a bit of time cleaning out our mud kitchen which was looking so sad and neglected. All the pots were full of muddy, frozen water and it needed a good clean up. The children helped clear out the old pinecones and acorns we had collected and sweep away the sand and dust. We left it looking so much cleaner, all ready for play!
Winter fairy garden play
Our lovely fairy garden was also looking frozen but the children really wanted to play with it. We set it aside to thaw whilst they set up their own winter fairy garden. They based everything around a Playmobil Fairy Toadstool House which my daughter received for her last birthday. This came with lot of tiny pieces but she really just loves the toadstool house. This was taken outside and her Fairy Busy Box raided for her favourite pieces.
There is not much growing in our garden at the moment so this was perfect for play. They added wooden toadstools and plastic flowers and leaves.
They collected up all the fairy dust they could find in a miniature plant pot.
And waited for their favourite fairies to come and play.
They had so much fun and I’m glad they were able to spend a bit of time outside in the sun. It is so easy to tailor a fairy garden to whatever the British weather is doing and winter is no exception.
