We’re big fans of sun catchers around here. They are a simple but effective craft and my children never tire of making them. With Wimbledon coming up I thought it was about time we upped our game with a tennis ball sun catcher craft.

Supplies needed to make a tennis ball sun catcher:
paper plate
yellow cellophane paper
scissors
contact paper

How to make a tennis ball sun catcher:

I drew the shape of a tennis ball inside the inner circle of a paper plate.

I then cut the tennis ball out using my Swann Morton blade, making sure not to cut the small parts of the ball.

I turned the paper plate tennis ball sun catcher over and covered it with contact paper. Then I laid everything out for my 4 year old to get creative – the yellow cellophane cut into small pieces.

She was happy sitting and making her sun catcher.

When she had finished I covered the other side of the paper plate in contact paper and hung it up in the window. This is a fun activity to celebrate Wimbledon. My fingers are crossed that the sun will come out soon, but I suppose it’s not tennis season without a bit of sunshine and rain.
