Little house picture frame DIY

I don’t think I’ve ever blogged about my obsession with little houses. But for once I’m going to contradict myself and say that just because I haven’t blogged about it, doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened!

I’m not quite sure when this obsession started but over the last few months it has really grown. Luckily we are short of space so my little house collection is small. First it was a little house ornament, then a framed picture of a house ‘drawn’ with a sewing machine. A couple of Christmases ago I started buying house-shaped tea light holders and now I’ve run out of space I can’t buy any more. They look quite pretty all lined up along one (long) shelf, but I am having to be inventive with future purchases.

I spotted a sweet house-shaped picture frame and knew I wanted to make it a little more ‘me’. I gathered my supplies.

First I added the word ‘HOME’ using some of my vintage Scrabble tiles.

I used Evo-Stik to glue them in place beneath the picture frame.

Then I looked around for some pretty backing paper. I found a really sweet print in my Orla Kiely colouring book called Tiny House. Have you seen a copy yet? It is full of amazing designs which I’m really enjoying colouring. I didn’t want to take the page out so copied it using my new Epson ET-2500 printer.

The Epson ET-2500 is a new EcoTank printer, which means it can save you up to 70% of your printing costs due to its integrated high-capacity ink tanks. The refillable high volume tanks will last much longer than printers with traditional ink cartridges, which makes it perfect for use in the home. I don’t know about you, but I always seems to be printing out stuff for homework or sheets for my little ones to colour. Now I don’t need to worry about replacing the ink for 2 years!

As well as being a normal wireless printer you can photocopy in black and white, as well as colour. We’ve set it up in our downstairs office so the children can easily reach it. I copied the page and traced around the back of the picture frame and cut it out, placing it in the frame.

I thought it needed a little something more, so added a vintage letter card K for our surname. I think I’ve managed to combine most of my favourite things here – a little upycling, some vintage supplies, Orla Kiely print and little houses!
