The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar film review

Posted on January 17, 2016 by jenny

This morning we headed into London as we had received an invitation to watch The Lion Guard – Return of the Roar at the Ham Yard Hotel. The Ham Yard Hotel is a lovely venue, and we love The Lion King, so it was an easy decision to attend.

Did you know The Lion King came out in 1994? Well the story continues with The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, a brand new film for television which will be shown on Disney Junior on Monday 8th February at 5.30.

The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar

The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar

Set in the African Savannah, The Lion Guard follows lion cub, Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, as he takes on the role of leader of the Lion Guard, a team of animals tasked with preserving the Pride Lands and the Circle of Life. While traditionally the Lion Guard has been made up of a group of lions known for their fierceness, bravery, speed, strength and sharp, Kion breaks tradition by calling on some of his friends to form the Lion Guard. He chooses Bunga the honey badger, Ono the egret, Fuli the cheetah and Beshte the hippo, all of whom have the qualities necessary.

We all loved this special animation. There are plenty of strong characters, lots of references to The Lion King film and some great songs which I know will be sticking in my head this week. The film is a precursor to The Lion Guard television series which will airing on Disney Junior in April.

Throughout the film the friends learn how to use each of their unique abilities to solve problems and complete tasks to maintain the balance within the Circle of Life, whilst also introducing viewers to the diverse range of animals that inhabit the amazing African landscape.

We had a lovely morning and can’t wait to watch The Lion Guard again soon. Don’t forget – The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, will be shown on Disney Junior on Monday 8th February at 5.30pm.

Sounds like you had a fantastic morning! My kids would love this, just need to find someone with the Disney channel so we can ‘drop in’ on that day 😉
