Win a copy of Torie Jayne’s Stylish Home Sewing

I’m delighted to be taking part in a blog tour today for Torie Jayne’s Stylish Home Sewing book. I’ve been a fan of Torie Jayne’s blog for a long time so I knew her book would be full of beautiful and stylish items to make.

Torie-Jaynes-Stylish-Home-Sewing-coverThis book does not disappoint. It contains over 35 projects to make your home beautiful. The projects are fresh, are co-ordinated in Torie’s trademark pastel colours, and definitely reflect her style which shines through on her blog. As you would expect from a book published by CICO Books, the projects are really well laid out with clear instructions and artwork.

Each chapter is centred on a space in your home, from the entrance hall to the kitchen, the living and laundry rooms, the bedroom and the garden. The projects are lovely and it’s refreshing to seem some great new to me crafts, from a bread bag and utensil holder to a padded headboard and a polka-dot tool belt. I’ve already made the sweet lavender tags and I’ve added a few projects to my wish list as I love the sound of the square storage boxes made from fabric and the doily bunting would definitely brighten up the playhouse.

  1. hello there just discovered this blog fab by the way .
id love to finish an embroidered tablecloth i’ve been doing like for a year and a half but i’m so impatient lol i usually leave it do something elses and then i keep coming back to it but its never ending lol ill finish eventually i hope x

  2. I know it’s not sewing related (but I do that for my new business) but I would love to make one of those giant measuring rulers to record the boy’s heights on-they will probably be too big to want to do it by the time I get around to doing though! x

  3. My hobby is crochet and knitting, so I’m making things all the time… never for myself though! I want to do myself a nice blanket for the sofa at some point 🙂

  4. I’d love to make loose covers for my favourite sofa. I really don’t want to get rid of it but the cover’s beyond help and the quotes I’ve had for new ones to be made are almost as much as a new sofa!

  5. I’d love to make some personalised applique cushions. I haven’t attempted applique and would love to try it.

  6. I’ve been hand sewing a blue patchwork quilt on and off for years… now my son’s been born, I’d love to finally finish it for him (preferably before he grows up and leaves home. He’s only 2 months so I still have a chance!)

  7. I started making a quilt when I was still at school. It’s almost finished, but not quite, so I’d really like to finish that.

  8. I’d love to have a go at making anything for the home really. I’ve never really done much sewing besides making pillows and draft excluders.. but other than that I’m a novice. I’ve recently got back into knitting, but I’ve always wanted to do more sewing.. I think being able to sew your own clothes too would be really rewarding. But.. for the home.. I guess things like curtains would be really handy!

  9. I’ve got a cross-stitch picture that I’m struggling with, so I keep doing others instead! It’s a gorgeous picture of a dragon, but it’s so intricate I just can’t find the time

  10. One of these days I’m going to finish off the board game table for the grandchildren, Snakes and Ladders contoured onto the table top!

  11. I would love to make cushions most of all. I love making things for the home and have made lots of tea cosies, table mats and runners etc. Thank you for the chance to win x

  12. I have the materials and I have the cushions – I just need to find the time (and basic pattern) to make the covers.

  13. I have made a throw, cushions and covered a lamp for my conservatory. I make different bunting throughout the year, I’m on with my felt chicks and bunnies at the moment

  14. Awesome blog – just discovered!!

Would love to make my daughter a Wendy house table cloth for over my dining room table with windows, front door & a pile of flower cushions for inside!!! She loves tents and is always having tea parties under the table!!

  15. a perfectly matched cushion cover for my odd shaped cushions that i love but getting a bit old x

  16. I started a patchwork cover when I was a teenager, many years ago, and I would love to have another go at this craft.

  17. I have only just bought a sewing machine so I’m still making very basic things. I would like to make a cushion.

  18. I have seen the most adorable knitting pattern for a fox draught excluder – I just need to get my skills up to the standard required before I attempt it!

  19. A patchwork quilt for our bed. I made one for my daughter’s bed years ago – I wanted to sew it all by hand so it took a year to do. Our bed is super-king size, so a quilt to fit it would take much longer. Would love to get round to doing it soon though.

  20. I have been trying to sew a family tree with a bird named for each member of the family -it is taking forever

  21. i would like to make some throws for the garden when the sun is out to hang up as a shade and as a picnic blanket. the brighter the better

  22. I would love to and need to. Make some curtains, I’d also like o make a patchwork bedspread but I think I’d also like to make some gifts for people’s birthdays etc, I really like the bags and tags!
