Today I’m sharing a DIY Valentine’s gift tutorial as part of the TSB Valentine’s Campaign. They offer joint accounts amongst other things, so why not make a sweet gift for your other half? These stitched hearts are perfect for hiding a note or Valentine treats. Here’s what I did.
Materials needed for brown paper stitched hearts:
brown paper, I used paper sandwich bags
scissors
heart shaped cookie cutter
pink tic tac sweets or similar
washi tape
pinking shears
letter stamps
How to make brown paper stitched hearts:
Take a large cookie cutter and draw around it on the brown paper bags. You will need two pieces for each paper heart.
Place the two hearts together and stitch around them, just inside the edge. If you don’t want to use a sewing machine you can hand sew them. Leave a small gap about 1 centimetre from where you started, and add your sweet treats. Sew the gap closed.
I wanted to make a heart for each of my children so decorated them with some pretty washi tape and cut round them with pinking shears.
Then I added a little message with my Scrabble stamps.
I’m going to place these beneath my children’s pillows so they have something sweet to wake up to on Valentine’s Day. They’ll probably think that our Christmas Elf hid them, they seem to think he’s responsible for little things like this 🙂

So cute, I think I have some brown paper bags in the cupboard too 🙂
😮 This is such a fun idea and looks really cute too. I will definitely be trying this. You could do all different shapes for different dates too! Trees at Christmas etc.
That is such a fab idea, how inspiring. I would never have thought of this, will be sharing 🙂
