Our Summer holiday round up (Week 1)

Posted on July 30, 2014September 14, 2022 by jenny

I can’t believe I’ve survived the first week of the Summer holidays. I thought it might be fun to blog about what we’ve been up to.

The first week started with afternoon tea with Kirstie Allsopp and a paper cutting masterclass with the lovely Poppy Chancellor. I also snuck in a visit to see the Wedding Dresses 1775-2014 exhibition at the V&A.

Big Brother and I attended the Hobbycraft Christmas preview, followed by a trip to the Disney store where I treated him to some of the new Planes 2 toys (he’s obsessed after our recent trip to see the special preview of Planes 2 Fire and Rescue). We finished our morning with a trip to the London Transport Museum.

The next day we went to the Polka Theatre with Little Sis to see Skitterbang Island which we will be writing about soon. We took advantage of some proper shops to go shoe shopping, exciting times!

The weather has been really hot so we’ve had a trip to the local park, the Lido, scooted along the South Bank and been keeping cool in the garden by running through the sprinkler. We’ve still had time to be creative and made a cardboard fish tank, baked jam tarts and done lots of cutting, sticking and glueing.

We’ve finally taken the side off Nu’s cot bed. She’ll be 3 in November but hasn’t shown any signs of wanting to be out of her cot. She’s happy to sit in her brother’s bed but we’ve just never got round to converting her cot into a cot bed. We eventually got round to it and she was so excited. Unfortunately she’s fallen out a few times (and even under her bed!) so we’ve put some pillows down for her to land on. Perhaps a bed guard is needed.

I was kindly sent a copy of the new Elementary Sewing Skills by Merchant & Mills  to review and that features in the latest Pavillion Craft newsletter.

I’ve been too tired to sew much by the time the children are in bed. I’ve finally picked up everything I needed for Wild Olive’s Autumn Stitching Club. I want to make all four pieces from the seasonal Stitching Clubs (I made the Spring Stitching Club quilt and never blogged the Summer Stitching Club quilt) and this was next on my list. I’m Instagramming the hexies as I complete them so come and follow me if you want to see more!

Reading all that makes me feel tired… I envy you, I don’t know how you cram so much in. We (myself and my two daughters) spent an afternoon at the water park today and I’m knackered lol! xx
