Valentine sun catchers

We love making sun catchers. Our sitting room faces south which means we get a lot of lovely sun light on the window – perfect for handmade sun catchers! After the success of the ones we made last year we thought we’d make some for Valentines Day too.

Easy Valentine sun catchers

You will need:

card, scissors, coloured pieces of cellophane (we used sweetie wrappers), sticky tape and bakers twine.

We drew round cookie cutters to make heart and circles shapes.  This meant they were all the same shape and size.

Then we carefully cut out the middle of each shape and lay a piece of cellophane over it, keeping in place with sticky tape.

You may need to trim the cellophane to make sure it fits.

Finish off by making small holes in the top of each sun catcher and thread with bakers twine so you can hang in the window.

Admire until your back is turned and the cat decides to play with it!

  1. This is so simple but effective. Not sure where we can get cellophane from but I will get googling! Thanks for giving me some inspiration. It is so miserable and cold outside we need something indoors to cheer things up.

  2. Lovely idea, which doesn’t sound too difficult. We bought some gel Christmas trees, which were a hit. Now it’s half term we will try to make something just as nice and more fun.
