60th anniversary edition of Miffy’s Birthday book

This year marks a special anniversary for one of the world’s most famous children’s characters. Miffy, the little white bunny, will be 60 years old. Miffy was “born” on 21 June 1955 – the date Dutch artist Dick Bruna first drew the character to entertain his young son whilst on a rainy seaside holiday in Holland.

Dick Bruna’s Miffy stories have been refreshed for a modern British audience, with newly translated texts by award winning British poet, Tony Mitton. We were sent a special 60th anniversary edition of Miffy’s Birthday book to review.

60th anniversary edition Miffy's birthday

Miffy puts on her best dress because today is her birthday. Lots of people come to give her lovely presents and wish her a happy birthday. But Grandpa and Grandma bunny give her the most special present of all.

This is a lovely story, beautifully illustrated. It has made the perfect bedtime story for my 3 year old. The simple story and pictures really appeal to her and she finds lots to look at in each picture. It has a RRP £8.99 and is available from all good bookshops.

  1. I love Miffy as well but I didn’t know that she had turned 60 :D.
I think I remember a pink playsuit or pink shirt with Miffy’s head on it as a teenager, really wish I got it now 🙂
