Yes, it’s your big day and all eyes should be on you. But hosting and organising the biggest day of your life means that the pressure is on to make it a day no one will forget! Showing your guests, a really good time shows that you consider them an important part of your new life and it’ll get them talking about what an amazing time they had, and what bride doesn’t want that?
Here you’ll find some inspiration of how you can show your guests a really good time!
The food
Food is a huge party of any celebration, and you might have the perfect caterer in mind. But don’t worry, you won’t have to give up your hand crafted appetisers and locally caught seafood platters. Why not wow your guests with a hog roast? Ideal for serving your evening guests and those who have been with you throughout the day and may be feeling a little peckish – or lightheaded! A hog roast not only looks spectacular but smells fantastic. Your hungry guests will thank you for providing such an amazing treat! For more information click here.
Cocktail hour
Want to incorporate and extra touch of class to the proceedings? Why not create a cocktail hour? Dedicate an area of your reception venue specifically for wine and spirit tasting. You can hire a liquor expert or a sommelier to take charge of the proceedings and give your guests a little lesson on all the flavours and scents they should be experiencing!

Embrace the seasons
Why not let the time of year you’ve chosen to get married influence some of your entertainment? Getting married in the Springtime? Erect a maypole with beautifully coloured ribbons and have photographs taken of your guests as they go around. Summer time? Hire an ice cream van or create an ice cream bar for everyone to cool off with. Autumn – try bobbing for apples or carving some pumpkins. For winter, think of all things Christmas!
Street performers
If you’re having a sit down meal, why let the entertainment stop? Jugglers, acrobats, dancers, even magicians would be a fantastic addition to any reception. Have a favourite celebrity? Why not hire a lookalike and have pictures taken – it’ll be something everyone can get involved with too!
Photographs
Remember in the age before smartphones we used to take photos and have them developed? Why not introduce a little nostalgia into your big day? Add a few disposable cameras to each table and let your guests take real, unaltered photographs. The pictures you get back will be real and a true reflection of your big day – and not a selfie in sight!
Video messages
Many couples request that guests write wishes in a guest book. So why not go a step further? Dedicate an area of your venue to a video booth and invite guests to record their wishes and sentiments in person. You can watch it over and over and enjoy it in years to come – you can see how much everyone has changed!
