5 ways to play with Plasticine Softeez

Earlier this week we took part in a Twitter Party for the new Plasticine Softeez from Flair. Plasticine is something I remember from my own childhood so I was excited to see that it had come back and my children would be able to play with it.

Unlike play dough, Plasticine never dries out. It also comes in many colours which you can mix to make new colours. It is also really easy to handle and play with.

I thought it might be helpful to share 5 ways to play with Plasticine Softeez:

  • Plasticine is great for learning about colours and colour mixing
  • Use it for practising letter and number recognition
  • Search Pinterest for free playdough mats
  • Go on a colour scavenger hunt
  • Make Plasticine stamps

We held a little party at home so we could share the new Plasticine Softeez kits with friends. These were the Plasticine Softeez Tub of Fun, Under the Sea Play Box and Cupcake Creation Kit. The children participated in some fun challenges amongst themselves, making the longest snake they could from Plasticine, making underwater scenes and designing and making their own cupcakes. Everyone enjoyed themselves and were sent home with lots more plasticine so they could continue making with it at home.

Most of the products we tried out included really helpful ideas leaflets with tons of ideas for play. This was perfect for my 5 year old who will happily follow instructions to make ninja turtles or fancy cupcakes. My 3 year old also benefited as playing with Plasticine is great for encouraging fine motor skills and encouraging those muscles in her fingers and hands.

I can’t believe Pasticine is still around, I loved it when I was a kid.

Thankfully it smells better today than I remembered as a child!
