How to personalise your Cricut machine

How to personalise your Cricut machine {with a cute kawaii face}

Posted on January 5, 2020 by jenny

My Cricut machine has been getting a lot of use over the last few months. I don’t make things to sell but I use it to decorate and personalise our home. Over the last few months the Cricut Maker has been out a lot and I’ve used it to make personalised chocolate wrappers for my children, a personalised dog bib, Thank You cards, advent calendars and even place settings for Christmas Day!

How to personalise your Cricut machine

I store my Cricut Maker and accessories in a vintage kitchen cupboard in our dining room, I wish I had space to keep it out, but I don’t. When I first had my machine I customised it with my name but I forgot to weld the letters in Design Space! The Cricut is a whoooooollllle new learning curve but it’s fun!

I decided to update my machine with some cute kawaii eyes which I’d seen someone do on Instagram. It’s a fun way to personalise your machine, search on Pinterest to see how others decorate their Cricut machines with all kinds of names and images.

How to personalise your Cricut machine with a cute kawaii face

You can find a selection of cute kawaii faces on Design Space or design your own or purchase from Etsy. I searched Cricut Design Space for Images, then ‘kawaii’ and found a whole load of emoticon faces. I chose the Smile Kawaii Emoticon (#MA5EC1C5).

Black vinyl is my friend so I used it to cut the face, weeded then added the transfer tape.

I roughly measured where I wanted the face on the inside of the lid. I could have added a face on the outside but I wanted to see it when I was using my machine. The lid doesn’t cover the whole machine so it was a bit of a guestimate.

adding kawaii eyes to my cricut

This was the simplest Cricut project I’ve done in a while and I hope it inspires you to personalise your machine, if you haven’t already!

Take a look at my Cricut projects and inspiration board on Pinterest for more ideas.

    What a clever idea, im now think why hasnt printers,scanners etc.. never had this custom style effect on before. This process seems really simple and one of those things that ive thought, why have i not done this already

    Your machine really looks friendly and welcoming now. I’d not have thought of decorating a cricut machine before.
