Family Life Monday Happy List

Five Happy Things {Week 244}

shiny new cast

I love to start the week by writing Five Happy Things. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Five Happy Things {Week 244}

Two weeks ago my son fractured his wrist. This week we had a follow up appointment at the Fracture Clinic. His bones are healing really well and he was given a permanent cast. He loved being able to choose the colour. We have to go back in another three weeks and hopefully he will be given a splint to wear. It’s really strange having him around so much as he can’t do many of his after school sports clubs!

My children are growing super quickly so I had to buy uniform even though there are only 6 weeks left of term. I took the opportunity to buy some of the items my daughter needs in September when she starts Junior School. She couldn’t wait to try on the shirt and tie and she looked really grown up. I think she’s going to have a great time at Junior School but I’m beginning to feel a little sad about the end of her time at Infant School.

I’ve had a Cricut Maker for a few months now. I thought it would be fun to use it to add the Shipping Forecast labels to my Shipping Forecast quilt. I bought a Cricut Every Day Iron On material to use and it worked really well. The weeding was a little tricky as the labels were so small but it was fun. I marked out the Shipping Forecast areas with a tacking thread so I was able to use my Easy Press2 to iron them on.

My 7 year old is super sporty and wanted to do something energetic this weekend. We booked her a session at Rock Up Watford so she could spend an hour on the climbing walls. She went a few months ago for someone’s party so challenged herself to try more walls this time and climb higher. I love that she was able to do this, then we went shopping and had lunch at Wagamama.

We’ve all been watching the FIFA Women’s World Cup. I think it’s brilliant that we can watch all the matches on tv. My daughter plays football and it’s great that she can be inspired by watching it on tv too/ She wanted to know if men were allowed to watch and was quite pleased that everyone was allowed to watch.

Have a great week everyone!

    It must be so awkward for your son with a fractured wrist! Glad to know its healing though. I think it’s brilliant the coverage the FIFA women’s world cup is getting and about time too!

    Glad to hear your sons wrist is healing well, I think my son would feel a bit lost too if he broke a bone as he spends so much time swimming lol! The climbing wall looks like lots of fun, my son had a birthday party at our local climbing place last year and it was a big hit with all the kids, well done her for trying to challenge herself!

    Sounds like you’ve had a busy week. Talking about uniforms, I’m just about to head out to get my kids some as they have outgrown theirs so quickly. Hope your sons wrist heals soon and he is not finding it too hard at the moment.

    I love the Rock Up Watford session you got. With kids’ energy these days, that really was a good idea letting her try it out. When I was little before, we climbed trees without any safety equipment whatsoever.
