Rebels Get Results {Cotton Clara x Rebecca Strickson}

Cotton Clara x Rebecca Strickson

A few weeks ago my husband gave me an embroidery kit. I love a hand sewing project so was pretty excited to receive something from Cotton Clara as I pretty much lust over everything in her shop {take a look here!}. She sells modern embroidery kits which are perfect for some mindful crafting. I have to be honest, after a day at work and then looking after my kids, I find my mind is pretty frazzled. I love something I can just pick up, so this was a great embroidery kit for me.

The Rebels Get Results embroidery hoop kit was the result of a collaboration between Cotton Clara x Rebecca Strickson. Have you seen any of Rebecca Strickson’s work? She’s an amazing illustrator and I totally love her aesthetic. I don’t even know how to describe it, something like vintage banners meets modern design. I have my eye on this gorgeous London Loves, 2019 print which cleverly features the colours of all the London underground lines.

Anyway, one of her prints, Rebels Get Results, which sounds like something Jyn Erso might say, has been turned into an embroidery hoop kit by Cotton Clara (I’ve previously stitched one of her banners here). The kit contained a pre-printed fabric panel, needle and DMC threads. I took it away with us to Devon when we visited over Easter and it was the perfect little project.

Our little seaside cottage had the most amazing views over the back beach at Teignmouth. I spent many happy hours watching the children play on the beach whilst I stitched.

I used back stitch to complete the kit, using gorgeous pinks, oranges, whites and turquoise. It was so much fun watching it come together.

When I had finished I trimmed the fabric, cut a piece of felt to fit inside the frame over the back of the embroidery, and placed the wooden disc over it all. I really need to find somewhere to hang the finished embroidery. I have quite a collection and they would look great if I was able to display them together.
