I can’t believe that we first watched The Secret Life of Pets in 2016. We were invited to a screening and my kids look so young in the photos I took! The film was a favourite of my daughter’s and she still wears the hat she was given 3 years later! She collected all The Secret Life of Pets Happy Meal toys which she still has too!

In the first film we met Max, a spoiled terrier who enjoyed a comfortable life in a New York building until his owner, Katie, adopted Duke, a giant and unruly canine. During their walk outside, they encountered a group of ferocious alley cats and wound up in a truck bound for the pound. Luckily, a rebellious rabbit named Snowball swooped in to save the doggy duo from its captors. In exchange, Snowball demanded that Max and Duke join his gang of abandoned pets on a mission against the humans who’ve done them wrong. Meanwhile Gidget, a white Pomeranian that has a crush on Max, realises that he is missing. She recruits a hawk called Tiberius and together they and their friends go looking for Max and Duke.

In The Secret Life of Pets 2 Max faces some major changes after his owner Katie gets married and now has a child named Liam, up to the point he becomes over-protective. On a family trip to the countryside, Max meets a farm dog named Rooster, and both attempt to overcome his fears. Meanwhile, Gidget tries to rescue Max’s favourite toy from a cat-packed apartment, and Snowball sets on a mission to free a white tiger named Hu from a circus.
We don’t have long to wait to watch The Secret Life of Pets 2 here in the UK as it’s released on the 24th May.
