Win a copy of The Girls by Lauren Ace

Win a copy of The Girls by Lauren Ace

Posted on March 9, 2019March 1, 2021 by jenny

Did you celebrate International Women’s Day yesterday? The school I work in went all out for World Book Day but in comparison there was little mention of International Women’s Day (IWD) which was a shame. International Women’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world on March 8th and is a day when women are recognised for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. In honour of IWD I have a lovely picture book to giveaway today.

The Girls by Lauren Ace

When four little girls meet under an apple tree they form an unshakable bond that grows and grows as they share their secrets, dreams, struggles and triumphs.

This stunningly illustrated tale charts the girls’ lives through their ups and downs, laughter and tears. As you turn the pages you are invited to watch their friendship flourish and the years pass by as the girls become women.

The Girls is an incredibly special and powerful picture book which champions female friendship in a beautiful, poignant and unprecedented way. This book is unique as it invites readers to grow with the characters, showing the passage of time as they mature from four little girls into four strong women. Jenny Lovlie’s illustrations are fresh and charming and when paired with Lauren Ace’s warm and heartfelt words they truly bring the endearing story of these four girls to life in beautiful harmony.

For parents, this book shows their children that they have no limits on their dreams, for children it is a reassurance as well as a rallying cry. You can be different, you can be the same and relationships will come and go but fill your life with love and friendship and that will get you through the best and worst of times. This is a beautiful book to be gifted amongst friends whist also being a picture book to be given to young girls to inspire.

This is the story of four girls, but it is also the story of womankind.

Together #WeAreTheGirls

The Girls written by Lauren Ace and illustrated by Jenny Lovlie is published by Little Tiger Press.
