Family Life Monday Happy List

Five Happy Things {Week 223}

Monday morning again. Hope you had a great weekend. I start the week off by writing my Five Happy Things blog post. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Five happy things {Week 223}

Last week meant back to work for me after a lovely two weeks with the family. Fortunately we had a staff training day which made things a little easier, but it was still hard going back to work. It’s amazing how quickly you can forget your work routine! Most of the children’s clubs started too so it felt like a busy week getting back into the swing of everything.

This year I want the kids to get more involved in the kitchen. It’s important they learn more about cooking, especially when they are such fussy eaters! I need to build up a larger repertoire of meals and help them find new dishes they will eat. On Saturday we made sausage rolls and loads of gingerbread biscuits, no exactly healthy but they had loads of fun.

Are you excited about The Lego Movie 2 which comes out next week? My kids can’t wait to watch it, especially now they’ve seen the new range of Lego Movie 2 sets in the shops! There are so many, including a new range of Lego Movie minifigs which my son wants to collect. I couldn’t resist and bought myself Benny’s Space Squad and Spaceship set as Benny’s friends are called Lenny, Jenny and Kenny. Who could resist buying a Lego figure names after themselves?

Yesterday we went outside of London to visit the historic town of Berkhamsted. Our English Heritage membership is just about to end so we wanted to visit Berkhamsted Castle which they look after. The castle is in ruins but you can see the remains of the motte and bailey castle and the kids had fun exploring it. We also drove out to Frithsden Beeches to see the historic beech trees. It was lovely to be out and we saw lots of signs of Spring

We’ve decorated a lot of painted rocks to hide this week. We found a few near our local library, and a couple around Berkhamsted too which we re-hid. The kids love drawing on rocks and now we have a lovely stash to take out with us.

    Ah what a great idea for a blog post. It sounds like you’ve had so many great moments in the past week. Wonderful to get the kids involved in cooking!

    We are very excited about the Lego Movie 2, my hubby will be taking my eldest to see it at the cinema. They’ve already got a couple of the new sets. Also, I love spending my free time exploring historic sites, I bet that was a lovely way to spend your day! x

    A wonderful way to look back on the week and reflect on the good things. I really want to get the children to paint some more rocks to hide when we visit the new Zog Trail
