Celebrating British Science Week

Celebrating British Science Week with KidZania

Posted on March 10, 2018July 17, 2022 by jenny

Living in London we are absolutely spoilt for choice with things to do at the weekend. One of our favourite places is KidZania, a city for children, based in Westfield London shopping centre. Today we were invited along to Kidzania as they were kicking off British Science Week with an explosive one day Wonderlab experience, in partnership with the Science Museum.

Celebrating British Science Week with KidZania

To be honest I’ve never heard of British Science Week but I’m all in favour of anything which encourages my children to have an interest in science. We were lucky enough to visit Wonderlab at the Science Museum late last year and we all loved it.

Today KidZania teamed up with The Science Museum to offer young Einstein’s the chance to imagine, explore and discover the weird and wonderful world of science at a one-day exclusive Wonderlab Roadshow pop-up. During the day there were 4 shows which took place in the Theatre which ranged from rockets to ‘magic’ tricks, instant ice cream to earth-shaking bangs. We were lucky to catch the Bubbles show which was really entertaining.

The session was led by The Science Museum’s talented team of Explainers. It lasted about 20 minutes and explored the science behind bubbles. Obviously we were shown lots of bubbles, big and small, and the children loved learning about how they are made. It was a great way to learn a little bit of science during our time at KidZania and I could see how engaged they were with the show.

We’ve been to KidZania a few times so I tried to encourage the children to try new jobs. Today they became Couriers, Little Sis was a Policewoman and got her face painted, Big Brother tried the animation studio and they both made smoothies and played cricket in the stadium.

Time always goes super quick in KidZania but they had a great time. I love that there’s always something new to see and try out. All children visiting KidZania today received a promotional code to visit the Science Museum, so fingers crossed we can go and visit Wonderlab again soon.

I have been meaning to take my kids to KidZania for the longest time! it looks like so much fun. The interactive side of it really appeals too. Great incentive to get more children involved in STEM subjects x

Sounds like such an amazing event to go to especially if you want your kids to learn a lot more about science and be excited about experiments. I will book mark this as we might be heading to London in June.
