You all know that I can’t resist an adult colouring book. I’ve featured quite a few here on my blog and although I’ve had to cull a few due to running out of space, I’ve kept quite a few of my favourites. With two small kids we are never short of colouring books, pens and pencils. We often share our colouring books as 3 people working on a page is a lot quicker than one.
I recently received a copy of Johanna Basford‘s ‘Ivy and the Inky Butterfly’. This is one book I don’t think I’ll be sharing.
Johanna Basford is an ink evangelist and illustrator of popular adult colouring-in books including ‘Secret Garden’, ‘Enchanted Forest’ and ‘Lost Ocean’.
Her much anticipated sixth book – Ivy and The Inky Butterfly, A Magical Tale to Colour – will, for the first time, include an enchanting narrative alongside her signature illustration style. It is published on the 12th October and I was delighted to receive a special preview copy, alongside some gorgeous Staedtler colouring pencils.
Bring your own colour to the story. From colouring book queen Johanna Basford, a lavishly illustrated fable about a girl named Ivy who, in her quest to find her inky butterfly, stumbles upon a secret door leading to the magical world of of enchanted characters and beautiful new landscapes, Enchantia.
A charming story that interacts playfully with beautiful, colourable artwork in Johanna’s signature style, Ivy and the Inky Butterfly is a one-of-a-kind adventure for the whole family and readers of all ages to customise, colour and cherish.
Ivy and the Inky Butterfly has 120 pages, including tips for colouring and some colour palette test pages. I loved the story and the illustrations are beautiful. I can’t wait to spend time colouring in this book and creating something really special to keep.
Ivy and the Inky Butterfly by Johanna Basford is published on the 12th October by Virgin Books, priced£12.99. Many thanks to the Studio of Johanna Basford for sending me an advanced copy to review.
