Win a Plant Craft Box from BloomBox Club

I love monthly subscription boxes. They are a great way to try new products, activities, food or make-up. There seems to be a subscription service for just about anything and I was so excited to try out a gardening one from BloomBox Club.

BloomBox Club choose beautiful, easy care plants and package them up to deliver right to your door every quarter. Voted one of the UK’s top 20 horticulturalists Mr Plant Geek is the in-house horticultural advisor, recommending plant selections, ironing out plant care and making sure that BloomBox are bringing you all that is new and interesting in the plant world.

All the information you need to care for your plants can be found on their site. We were sent the Plant Craft Box to try out and it contained a beautiful Kokedama kit – or living moss ball to make. I unpacked the box and everything was carefully packaged inside – some soil, sand, twine, moss and most importantly a fern to kokedama.

It was a little tricky to put together but the instructions were really helpful. We made quite a mess as we put our kokedama together indoors – my top tip would be to do this outside!

But it soon took shape and ours began to look like the pictures of the website. We had a lot of fun making it, wrapping the moss around the roots of the plant and keeping the soil together. Then we wrapped twine around it all to ensure everything stayed in place. Here’s our finished kokedama, hanging from a tree in the corner of our garden. We’ve given it plenty of water and I’m pleased to say that 4 weeks later it is looking pretty good.

Gardening is a really mindful activity and this definitely allowed us to take time out of our daily routine and to have a one pointed focus of doing and being in the present.
