The power of positive thinking

I’m always surprised how both my children are so quick to say they can’t do something. I’m a firm believer in the power of positive thinking, and try to encourage them to try anything and everything which comes their way. It really saddens me when my 5 year old says she can’t read and plays up when we look at her school reading books. I have no idea where she gets these ideas from.

I try to encourage them by by focussing on the positives and showing them examples of everyday achievements. I think it is important to push your boundaries and achieve things that you might have once thought were out of your comfort zone.

Mobility Nationwide put together this infographic which reflects on the fact that anything is possible, regardless of ability, and you can search for people’s stories using the#AchievementforAll. We all know that amazing things can be accomplished when you put your mind to achieving your goals.

The infographic follows last year’s British success at the Paralympics and shares stories about the UK’s winners and achievements to inspire us all. My son has been learning all about disability awareness due to his latest activity bagde at Beavers. He has been researching what disability means, finding out about famous Paralympians and had to talk to his group about physical disability awareness and the need for special equipment, such as wheelchair accessible vehicles.

I clearly need to work more on building their self esteem and positive thinking. Hopefully they learn positive habits at home and I think that belonging to after school clubs can help. It’s so important to aim high, even if that feels unnatural to our British modesty!

You’ve hot the nail on the head……children learn from their immediate associates -theyll grow into strong independent young people with positivity from you -im always getting “no” I’m always saying YES we can
