The Lego Batman Movie souvenir photograph

The Lego Batman Movie

Posted on February 5, 2017 by jenny

Last weekend we were fortunate to be invited to a very special preview of the new The Lego Batman Movie in Leicester Square. My son loves Lego so off we went to the West End for a day out together.

The Lego Batman Movie

Before the preview started there were lots of things to do at the cinema. My son got a Batman logo painted on his hand (which he insisted on not washing off all day), we enjoyed some special Lego biscuits and he played Lego Dimensions with the new Batman Movie Story Pack.  It was a great way to spend a morning and meant we were really excited when we were able to go through to the cinema.

We love Lego films, don’t forget to pop over and enter our giveaway to win a bundle of Lego DVDs here, so we were so excited when the lights went down.

In The Lego Batman Movie, Batman goes on a personal journey to find himself and learn the importance of teamwork and friendship in the hopes of saving Gotham City from a hostile takeover set by The Joker.

It’s a really good film with so many brilliant bits. I think my son and I enjoyed it on different levels but this is the beauty of the film, that there really is something for everyone. Batman isn’t very likeable but he soon learns he needs to work together with Alfred, his adopted son and Barbara Goodman to rid Gotham of the most ridiculous number of baddies you have ever seen. I loved the relationship between Batman and The Joker. We both enjoyed an insight into Batman’s world, especially all the Batman vehicles and his pretty immense wardrobe. The fact that everything was made from Lego bricks was just astounding and we can’t wait to watch it again and again to see all the details I know we missed the first time.

lunch with Batman

After the screening we were invited to a lovely lunch at Planet Hollywood. We were able to see some of the new The Lego Batman Movie sets and have a lovely lunch with fellow bloggers, celebs and Lego VIPs. My son received the most amazing goody bag containing The Joker Balloon Escape Lego set, one of the new The Lego Batman Movie minifigs, lots of books and posters, amongst other things.

Although we were a little tired after our exciting day out we managed to squeeze in a trip to The Lego Store before heading home! We had a fantastic Lego-themed day out. The Lego Batman Movie is out now and we would recommend it!

The preview show looks epic and I bet your son was happy to stand and have his picture taken with the characters. My kids both have the same Minecraft hat! 😉

Wow – what a fantastic experience. Sounds like you had a great time. I loved Lego when I was younger, very jealous of how ‘big’ it’s become now!

I still love Lego but my children always seem to build my sets before I get the chance!
