Hama bead holly and berries

Hama bead holly and berries craft for kids

Today my 6 year old has been off school sick. He has chicken pox, even though I thought he had it when he was little. Apparently you can get it twice, just like his younger sister.

Luckily I didn’t have any plans so today we have played Monopoly Token Madness (great for his maths skills!), I’ve watched him play Minecraft for too long and he has been busy creating with hama beads. He asked to get them out and was happy to sit and create. Hama beads are so tactile and we both enjoyed chatting about what we wanted to make and find the colours we needed.

We decided to make hama bead holly and berries. It is very much winter in London at the moment and every day on the school run we pass a pretty holly bush.

I had the lucky job of picking out the colours whilst my son placed them on the board. He made some lovely holly leaves and berries! He didn’t like the fact I picked all different shades of green but I really like the overall effect. I think these could make a great wreath if I can persuade him to make some more.
