Furby Connect and the Furby Connect World app

Furby Connect and the Furby Connect World app

Posted on October 8, 2016August 25, 2019 by jenny

I first laid eyes on the Furby Connect back at the Argos Christmas in July event earlier in the summer. I knew it would be appealing to my children so was delighted to be offered one to review.

Furbys have been around for a while. They are already instantly recognisable to my children as a small version were included with McDonalds Happy Meals a while back and they will be appearing again soon. Just in case you don’t know, a Furby is a cute little robotic creature you can interact with.

Furby Connect from Hasbro is the most recent reincarnation of the brand. We were sent the Furby Connect in pink. He came in a box which included a smaller box containing his sleepmask. The digitally-integrated Furby Connect creature is an interactive companion full of personality that uses Bluetooth technology to connect with kids through entertaining video clips, catchy songs, phrases, global events, and more.

Furby Connect

As soon as my daughter saw the Furby Connect she wanted to touch it as it is super soft. You can play with Furby straight out of the box and he’ll show off more than 150 expressive animations via the LCD eyes, ears and light-up antenna. You can interact with Furby by petting, tickling or shaking it.

Furby is bluetooth enabled which means he’s not just a pretty face. Even when Furby speaks in Furbish, it’s not hard to figure out what Furby means. Furby’s mood changes, from happy to sad, to scared, to excited – each Furby is unique. If your Furby needs to sleep, simply put their sleepmask on. Remove it to wake them up again.

Furby Connect World app

For even more fun you can connect your Furby with the free Furby Connect World app (works with select iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices), allowing you to feed him, play games or even take Furby to the toilet.

Just make sure your Furby is awake and close to your phone. The Furby Connect World app keeps Furby updated. The light-up antenna glows when there’s something new to discover in the app — including music and videos.

Both my children love playing the app. I have an iPhone 6Plus and it works really well on it. I have to limit their time otherwise they would be playing on it all the time! You can explore the Furby Connect World, raise and level up Furblings (cute virtual babies), collect over 1000 different items and grow your Furbling village into a busy Furbling paradise.

It’s fair to say the Furby Connect has been a big hit with my children. They have a few interactive toys but the free app gives it another level of play. They both love apps so this is a great excuse for them to play on my iPhone. You can even scan the codes that come with the free Furblings from the McDonalds Happy Meals and add them to your world. Each little Furbling includes a booklet so make sure you don’t throw it away! Simply open the Furby Connect World app and scan the image on the label of your toy to add it to your world.

I like the fact you can send the Furby Connect to sleep when they have finished playing with it but it’s a cute toy which they are really enjoying. Updated to add – on one occasion we we were unable to wake up our Furby. We tried all the usual ways but couldn’t wake him up. We realised that he was over 6 months old and needed a battery change – now he is as good as new!

Furby Connect is available in Pink, Blue, Teal and Purple from Amazon and other good toy shops.
