I’m clearly suggestible as a few weeks ago I saw lots of bloggers posting their reviews of the Fairy Garden Kit and had to buy my own. We’ve had so much fun building our own fairy gardens so I’m not quite sure why I needed to buy this kit. However the children were excited and I knew they would love watching the grass grow.
It was a lovely sunny day when we bought our kit so were able to build it outside. The kit contained a fairy garden bowl, fairy figure, oyster shell, foam fairy cottage, clothes line with pegs and blanket, coloured gravel, fairy mushroom, fairy flowers, fairy stars, packet of grass seed and booklet.
We followed the instructions which basically involved filling the fairy garden bowl with soil then adding the house, path and so on.
My 4 year old took it very seriously. She made a path with the coloured gravel and placed the oyster shell for water.

She hung the blanket on the washing line and placed the flowers around the garden. Then we sprinkled the grass seed and gave it a little bit of water.
Two weeks after planting and we’re still waiting for our grass seed to grow. I keep putting it in the sunshine and watering it but there are no signs of anything happening yet. The fairy house is quite flimsy too and we’ve replaced it with a little toadstool. I also think we’ll be putting some plasticine on the bottom of the washing line poles to make sure they stand up right.
I think we paid about £14.99 in our local toy shop. Do I think this is good value? The Fairy Garden kit is a lovely idea but I’m not the sure contents represent great value as you could pick up most of them at a garden centre or toy shop. However the Fairy Garden has given my children an immense amount of pleasure which is priceless to me. Fingers crossed the grass grows soon!

I agree the fairy house is a bit flimsy and ours didn’t last long it got replaced with a little plastic toy house. lol
Our grass grew really quickly and we had to keep trimming it with nail scissors.

Lovely idea, kids love fairy gardens, there’s something quite magical about them. Your daughter looks totally engrossed in it. I hope your grass grows soon.
