Egg carton flowers

This year is speeding by and I can’t believe it’s time for our third craft in the Project: Recycle and Create series. This months materials was egg cartons which I don’t think we’ve ever crafted with before. We had plenty of egg cartons in our recycling box so tried our hand at making egg carton flowers.

Egg boxes aren’t half as much fun as I remember from my own childhood. They’ve been re-designed so it’s much harder to cut out a decent dimple to craft with. Instead we cut out the bits in between!

Once removed my 4 year old got to work painting them with – her choice – pink, yellow and orange paint.

They only needed one coat before we left them to dry.

She loves to paint and was so absorbed in this little job.

They looked really pretty when dry. To make the stems we threaded pipe cleaners through the top of each one, making a hole if necessary. We folded the end of the stem over to make sure they stayed in place.

I placed then in a hanging glass jar and they look as good as the real thing.

These look great, a perfect idea for all our cardboard egg boxes. It’s definitely harder to cut them out though nowadays! Thanks for linking up with #HowtoSundays 🙂 x
