Today I’m going back to my blog roots and I’m going to share the latest Mollie Makes craft kit with you. I’ve subscribed to Mollie Makes from the first issue but pretty embarrassed to say I only ever made a few of the free gifts, I think my favourite was a cute little leather Valentine brooch. In a bid to kick start my creativity I’ve decided to make the cover gift each month and blog about it (you can see a previous attempt here).
Now I can’t knit or crochet so some months I may be re-inventing the kit. At Blogtacular someone said, and I may be paraphrasing, “creativity is a muscle, the more you use, it the bigger it grows”. We’re a pretty creative family but there’s always room for more.
This months’ kit was a dream catcher kit with wool and crochet hook.
My heart sank a little when I saw those elements because as much as I would love to crochet I just don’t get it – perhaps that’s something to add to my ’40 before 40′ list.
Anyway, this was a great chance to think outside the hoop and after a little digging around in my craft room I made it into this.
Ok, so there’s not much left of the original craft kit.
I found a wooden embroidery hoop and vintage doily which I used for the base of my dreamcatcher. I stitched the five felt feathers around the edge of the doily but you can easily use fabric glue to do this. I added tails threaded with colourful wooden beads and shells to complement the feathers.
We’re not going to any festivals this year so this is perfect for festival chic at home.
