Remote controlled helicopters at RAF Museum London

Last weekend we were invited to the RAF Museum London for the UK launch of Propel’s remote control helicopters. This was a winning combination for my husband and son and we all had a great day out. An area of the museum had been set aside to try out the new remote control helicopters and there was also a craft table, photo booth and yummy snacks.

My 4 year old loves his radio controlled cars and planes so was eager to try out the new toys. The range of helicopters is designed to suit all abilities and ages; from children and inexperienced flyers to the true enthusiastic, from indoor to outdoor and from sole flying to full combat capability.

P1180690There are 4 products in the range:

Hovermaxx UFO
This easy-to-fly UFO is perfect for younger children and beginning flyers. It features a 50-foot range, infrared remote with variable speeds, and controllable coloured LED lights for night flying. Charges easily with the 2 in 1 controller charger.

Air Combat
Using advanced infrared battling technology Air Combat copters “dog-fight” in mid-air. With each successful “hit” side-lights illuminate and the copter performs a spin. After 3 strikes, the defeated player’s copter automatically spirals to the ground – game over! Reset your copter and get back into the battle! Realistic lights, sound and vibration feedback keeps players engaged.

Nforce 2.0
The Nforce 2.0 3.5 Channel helicopter features a built-in gyroscopic chip for extreme stability and control. Fly backwards, forwards, left and right, or hover in mid-air! The Gyropter even banks like a real helicopter. Multi- coloured blinking LEDs can be turned on and off with the touch of a button for night flying missions.

Speedstar 2.4Ghz Indoor & Outdoor with Switch-Blade Technology
The Speedstar is a hobby grade fully interchangeable component helicopter. Using 2.4G spread spectrum radio combined with a high- speed single rotor and 3 axis gyro, the Speedstar is the ultimate in performance and function. Extremely precise digital 2.4G controller brings new levels of excitement to intermediate and advanced pilots. Choose between 3-channel or 4-channel flight modes and 2 different speed settings.

P1180727We loved the Hovermaxx UFO and the Air Combat. Both were easy to use and lots of fun. The room had been set up with lots of zones and my 4 year old was able to manoeuvre around several obstacles. He was very kindly given a Hovermaxx to take home, otherwise I think one would have been added to his Christmas list.

Little Sis wasn’t left out. She enjoyed colouring, making a model helicopter and playing in the photo booth.
