Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles toys from Flair

Big Brother kindly offered to review some of Flairs Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles products. He was sent a Power Sound FX Turtles Figure and a Turtles Ninja Combat Gear Set.

nick teenage mutant ninja turtlesAccording to Wikipedia: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (often shortened to TMNT or Ninja Turtles) are a fictional team of four teenage anthropomorphic turtles, named after four Renaissance artists, who were trained by their anthropomorphic rat sensei in the art of ninjutsu. From their home in the storm sewers of New York City, they battle petty criminals, evil overlords, mutated animals, and alien invaders while attempting to remain isolated from society.

I remember watching the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, as they used to be known, back in the late 1980s. I really enjoyed the cartoon series and my son likes watching their adventures on Nickelodeon so I was looking forward to reviewing the toys with him.

TMNT toy

The first toy we looked at was The Power Sound Figures which are able to deliver battle phrases with awesome sound effects. We received Raphael with moveable hands and legs and two sais which fit through loops on his shell. Each of the figures features some clever technology  (a patented wire coil activation system in the arms and legs) that triggers heroic battle phrases. You simply pull back and hold the arm or leg to hear reverberated phrases such as ‘I’m invincible!’ and ‘Hiiiiiiii-yaa!’.

TMNT toy

The second toy was the Raphael Combat Gear Set which allow kids to Turtle up in their favourite Ninja gear! Each set includes the turtles favourite weapons & signature bandana that will help transform them into their very own hero in a half shell. The Raphael set included the red bandana and two Sais.

Both toys have a RRP of £14.99 which seems reasonable for this kind of tv programme tie-in toy. Both my children like playing with the Raphael figure and he’s been busy taking train rides and playing with Lego with them for the last couple of weeks. They weren’t so keen on the Combat Gear Set but to be honest they don’t like dressing up so that’s not surprising.
