nursery playing vintage

The vintage nursery

The steal of my year was three vintage jigsaws for just 10p. I did query the woman who said 10p but obviously she didn’t see the potential in the jigsaws that I did. I happily handed over my 10p coin and took the jigsaws home.

The vintage nursery

The jigsaws were all made from thick board, cut into a few pieces and showed a cat and a dog, both in a similar style, and a third jigsaw of a clown character. I knew that the cat and dog would look amazing if they were framed and hung in Edward’s nursery.

I clearly had no understanding how much framing cost but we took them to our local framers’ who did a great job for quite a lot of money. Fortunately they look fab.

We’ve hung them quite high on the wall as I would hate to come into Edward’s room one day and find him playing with the jigsaws on the floor! Edward’s nursery is really simple but the jigsaws stand out. I’m always on the look out for more vintage toys to add to the look.

I’m linking up with Flea Market Finds, Magpie Monday, Thrift Share Monday, Thrifty Treasures and somewhat simple – please follow the links for more lovely vintage discoveries.

They look lovely. I have one of those 50s ‘alphabet tray’ jigsaws which I did think about getting framed but the price rather put me off!

You’ve given me a great idea for when DD is older actually, to take some of her favourite puzzles that she’s grown out of and frame them and hang them in her room rather than putting them in the loft where they’ll just gather dust. Thank you!

    How great are those!
Yes, after pricing framing now you know it is a skill you have to master youself. And you know why so many of us buy framed prints more for the frames than for the actual image.

We have lots of vintage toys in our kids rooms too-they’re not to play with either to their eternal dismay! 🙂
