Although we’re self isolating at the moment we did go out for a short walk with our puppy. The streets were incredibly quiet but we stayed a respectful distance from anyone we did see. My daughter doesn’t really enjoy walking (she’d much rather ride her bike) but she was kept busy spotting rainbows in windows. Have you noticed there are rainbows in windows?

Why there are rainbows in windows

So you may be wondering why there are rainbows in windows. I think the movement started in Italy and has quickly spread. The idea is that people display a rainbow in their window so that children can spot them as they walk around their neighbourhood. My daughter loved this idea and couldn’t wait to join in. You can easily craft your own rainbow or print out the free printable rainbow from Mrs Mactivity which we used – free rainbow positivity colouring poster.

We printed out a couple as we all love a little colouring. We picked out our favourite colouring pens and chatted about how we wanted to colour our pictures.

This made for a lovely relaxing activity and gave us the chance to sit together whilst we crafted. We all enjoyed colouring our rainbows! when we had finished we stuck them in our living room window. We live on a really quiet street but we’re hoping some of the local children will spot it if they go on a rainbow hunt walk.

Whilst we were out we spotted quite a few rainbows as someone shared the idea on our class Whatsapp group. Hopefully more will go up over the next few days.
