Vintage tins

I’ve been on the look out for a suitable tin for my button stash. I inherited a great collection of buttons from my grandmother, the buttons survived but not her old tin. Since then they’ve been stored in various boxes and even an old sweetie jar. Along the way I’ve picked up some lovely tins:

But none have been large enough, until I found this old Cadbury’s Chocolate Biscuit tin in a charity shop.

I think it really complements my vintage button stash and looks great alongside all my vintage thread boxes, patterns and ric rac.

I’m linking up with Flea Market Finds, Magpie Monday, Thrift Share Monday and Thrifty Treasures– please follow the links for more lovely vintage discoveries.

  1. Love the big button tin… my mum has exactly the same one and has done for as long as I can remember. They’re hard to find where I am though so well done xxx

  2. Wow what great tins.

I so rarely see them at boot sales any more. The final one you’ve settled on is perfect.

Oh, your links aren’t working – I want to check out the others, I don’t think I’ve seen Thrifty Treasures before. x

  3. Lovely tins, I don’t have any vintage ones really. Must keep my eye out!
I too have buttons, but keep mine in an old douwe egberts jar lol.
Really would love to add to my collection – buttons and tins now x

  4. I’m on the lookout for vintage tins too. I love that little one with yellow roses especially but the Cadbury’s one is lovely too and a very useful size!!
