Starting my week with the Weekly Edit is a ritual I’ve kept for years. It’s my favourite Monday morning anchor—a chance to slow down, celebrate the ‘small wins,’ and gather the smiles from the week behind us. Part reflection and part record-keeping, it’s my way of documenting our family’s adventures before the next chapter begins.
The Weekly Edit {Week 8/2026}
My teens had a well deserved half term break. We enjoyed a few days at home so they could relax, as well as a short break on the south coast. We stayed in Christchurch but visited Bournemouth and Poole too. We all enjoyed a trip to Pause Cat Cafe in Bournemouth.
We celebrated Shrove Tuesday with lots of pancakes. We bought some different types of pancakes as everyone loves something different. Little Sis had little heart-shaped pancakes, Big Brother had large pancakes with blueberries. I opted for traditional pancakes with lemon and sugar.
Reading Daughter of the Titanic by Caroline Cauci. I loved reading Mrs Van Gogh back in 2023, couldn’t finish Queen of the Mist, so was intrigued to read her latest book, Daughter of the Titanic. I love that the author writes books about interesting women who are usually forgotten about, or worse ignored, due to the man they married.
We managed to complete our National Trust Pooch Passport. This is the third year we have taken part in the scheme, but the first time we managed to get the six stamps needed to claim a prize! Although the winter months are quieter, the weather isn’t always encouraging to get outside for a dog walk.
Have you been watching Little Prophets? I love anything written by Mackenzie Crook and this is definitely filling a gap since The Detectorists ended. I also watched the Netflix programme about ANTM, I can’t believe I ever enjoyed that show!
Until next week—find the joy in the little things
