    Junk Play

    We’re a bit late to join in the fun at The Play Academy but I thought I’d post a picture of the fun we had recently with a couple of cardboard boxes. It’s amazing what Edward will play with. Items I think are ordinary can be transformed into new play experiences and take favour over older toys. Not only can cardboard be chewed it can also be sat in!     What do you buy the boy who has everything?

    I’m wondering what do you buy the boy who has everything for his first Christmas? My son has everything he needs and at 7 months he’s too young to hand me a wish list of toys he would like. My husband has been restoring some beautiful vintage wooden toys for him and I’m making him a dinosaur blanket to snuggle up with. I’m sure he’ll be spoiled by his extended family too.     Today I undertook my first toy drop through The Toy Society. If you’ve never heard of them before The Toy Society is a world-wide collective of toy makers – of varying skill levels– who make toys and leave them as gifts for perfect strangers. The project was started in Australia in June 2008 by a local crafter, Bianca, as an attempt to create a ‘something for nothing’ experience for anyone who discovered a toy.
