    The Gallery: My Blog

I started my blog back in 2005 and since then have used it to post about my hobbies and life. I quite like reading back through it and seeing how my interests have changed. When I started blogging I would record progress with my family history research but one day I discovered sewing and crafty blogs and never looked back. I hope my blog also reflects my personal life, when I changed from a miss to a mrs and later added the title of mummy to that of wife. I’ve been using my blog header for a while but have…

    Mother Love

This year I celebrated my first Mothers’ Day. Edward gave me a card (with a little help from Daddy) and we spent a lovely day together. I hate having my photograph taken and as a result very few photographs of me and Edward exist. So for this weeks’ Gallery theme I’ve chosen a photograph of my mum with Edward on our recent trip to Bruges. Bruges was quite cold and I forgot to take Edward’s coat out with us when we went on a horse and carriage ride. Mum wrapped him in the blanket and cuddled him to keep him…

    1980s hair

I love this week’s theme for The Gallery: Hair! I’ve changed my hairstyle nearly as often as I’ve changed my socks. I’ve had asymmetrical, short, long, fringe, no fringe. I remember at Middle School I used so much hair spray I got told off by the school nit nurse. Fortunately most of my photos are stored in my mum’s loft. Apart from this beauty of me and my sister in the late 1980s. My sister (on the right) was desperate for a perm which my mum did – I think it fell out within a week. I actually like my…

    The Gallery: trees

The theme for The Gallery had me thinking and looking back through my archives for pictures of trees. My son is obsessed by them and spent the first few months of his life sitting in his pushchair and watching the trees above him. However. before I found a suitable picture I remembered what my husband did at the weekend. We love geocaching and find it a great way to get out and about. Last weekend we went out for a walk round Ealing and bookmarked a couple of geocaches. One of them was in an unusual place. Yes, that’s my…

    24 hours in our world

I’ve tried to take a photo of Edward every day since he was born and publish my favourite on my baby blog. When I heard this week’s Gallery theme I thought about leaving the camera next to my bed so I could photograph everything we did from the moment we woke up. Then I realised that I take so many photographs I could almost pick any 24 hour period to show. Yesterday was a great day, the sun shone, we visited our favourite farm and saw lots of family, so have a look at our 24 hours: 1. breakfast time,…

    The Gallery: children

When Tara posted the theme of children for this weeks gallery I was so excited.  It might be a bit cheesy but I love the fact I’ve created a little being and love to see my own face in his. Looking back through old photograph albums shows expressions in his face which mirror my own in so many ways so I thought I would show photographs of the two of us:   Spoons are so good for teething gums 🙂   Now go and check out the other entries!

    The Gallery: Mother Nature

It’s taken me a while to choose a photograph for this weeks theme. I kept coming back to photographs I took on a trip to Dungeness, a unique headland on the Kent coast which I’ve blogged about here and here. I don’t know what the flower is but I love the way it’s juxtaposed with the fishermen’s cottages, the nuclear power station and the beautiful blue sky. I’m amazed anything grows on the shingle beach but over 600 different types of plant grow (a third of all those found in Britain). This post is for Week 42 of The Gallery:…

    The Gallery – body parts

I haven’t participated in The Gallery for ages but I couldn’t resist this week’s prompt – body parts. I have lots of pictures of Edward showing varying degrees of beautiful baby chubbyness. However, we’ve recently put up a stair gate and I couldn’t resist this picture: Not many body parts fit through those bars!
