Today we were walking to school and my children berated me for our lack of Halloween decorations! I was pretty loathe to give up my day decorating, especially as I thought the Halloween decorations I picked up a few weeks ago in poundworld were brilliant. Clearly I needed to up my game to impress the 5 and 7 year old. A few weeks ago I bought a laser cut MDF spider web online. I thought I would use it to make my own Halloween wreath. I gave it two coats of white paint which took ages – if I try this…

Today my daughter spent some of her pocket money on a new Sylvanian Families toy to add to her collection. She loves the cute little babies and and bought the Sylvanian Families Double Pushchair. She’s definitely going through a huge SF phase at the moment. I couldn’t be happier because it’s an adorable range for her to enjoy. Over two years ago I wrote a round up on my top 10 Sylvanian Families crafts. In the past two years we’ve made some really good crafts so I thought it was time to update this post, or add a new one. So today I’m…

Week 159 of my weekly Monday happy things post, about the things which have me happy. Last week was really busy, and the week-end was too. I’m hoping for some quieter time to get ready for half term. Only 2 parent evenings, after school clubs and homework to get through first! Monday mindfulness {5 happy things} I think that Facebook has a lot to blame for my purchasing recently. Someone mentioned that Orla Kiely had designed two exclusive bags for The Royal British Legion. I found them on the Poppy Shop and just had to buy them. Jute bags are…

Happy Monday everyone. Welcome to another week at the gingerbread house blog. I’m feeling super organised and ready for a new week. It’s time for my weekly post – Monday Happy Things. Monday Happy Things {Week 158} We had a pretty quiet week and weekend. A lot of our after school activities were cancelled due to illness which meant lots of time relaxing at home and plenty of time to craft. Our crafting was inspired by the season and we made autumn leaves sun catchers, conker caterpillars and lavender wands. We’ve been boarding the loft which isn’t very exciting but…

My children are both going through a Sylvanian Families stage at the moment. It’s not hard to see why, the toys are super cute and perfect for open-ended play. Following our trip to the Sylvanian Families Shop in London a few weeks ago I have been on the look out for simple Sylvanian Families crafts we can do at home. As they also like decorating rocks we came up with our very own Sylvanian Families painted rocks! Equipment to make Sylvanian Families painted rocks smooth stones (we bought ours from the local garden centre) Chalkola Chalk Paint pens Black permanent pen…

A few weeks ago I told you about our trip to the Sylvanian Families shop in London. I had a very small wishlist for our visit, I wanted to pick up the new limited edition Sylvanian Families Halloween Baby Trick or Treat Set. As a grown up fan of Sylvanian Families I have to admit that I like the limited edition sets and the Halloween one looked super cute. There’s a limited edition Christmas set to which I really want to get when it’s released in the UK. Sylvanian Families Halloween Baby Trick or Treat Set The Sylvanian Families shop had a…

I’ve been promising the children a trip to the Sylvanian Families shop in London for quite a long time. They both love Sylvanian Families and had been saving up their pocket money in preparation for our visit. The Sylvanian Families shop is on Mountgrove Road in London. This is within easy walking distance from Arsenal Underground Station or Finsbury Park Station. We drove and were able to park opposite the shop. The Sylvanian Families shop opened in 1993. The Sylvanian Families shop offers the widest range of Sylvanian Families in Europe with over 400 items in stock. They have over 50 different families, including the…

A while ago we made our Lego mad son a Lego Busy Box to keep him busy on car journeys. It’s been really successful and gone everywhere with us, but his younger sister wanted her own version. Now she’s not quite as obsessed with Lego as he is so instead we made her a Sylvanian Families Busy Box. It’s no secret that my 5 year old is Sylvanian Families obsessed. She spends all her pocket money on the toys and all her time making little videos of her playsets. She really loves the babies so her Sylvanian Families Busy Box…

Our Sylvanian Families collection has pretty much been out and covering the floor for the last few weeks. It’s one of their favourite toys and I thought it might be fun to add to their collection with some homemade additions. Last week we made the cutest little miniature wagon for our Sylvanian Families which was upcycled from an old sweetie tin. I thought I would share it as a tutorial in case anyone else wants to make one. Miniature wagon supplies Small sweetie tin Balsa wood Dowel Acrylic paint Hair pin How to make a miniature wagon for Sylvanian Families I…
