I’ve been toying with the idea of using a Planner to get organised in 2016. I’m a bit of a list keeper and find writing lists and crossing things off really helpful. The only problem is where to keep them. Add to my lists the family calendar in the kitchen with the children’s activities and playdates, the calendar on my iPhone with my PTA and choir commitments and then scribbled ideas for blog posts and that is a lot of things to remember. The Life Planner I invested in the Life Planner from Lollipop which I first heard about when…

Last year I bought myself a sweet Felt and Fabric Holly Garland kit from John Lewis. Did I get round to making it? No! So this November I took out the kit and started to make it. I cut out the holly leaves using different shades and fabrics. Then I machine stitched them. Then I left them until this weekend when I finally had time to get them out. The kit included lots of different sized red buttons for the berries but I couldn’t decide if I wanted to use them. I sent these pictures to my sister to see…

Happy Monday everyone, hope you had a great weekend. Yesterday I went clothes shopping with my 3 year old which is always an adventure. She has a huge appetite for trying on clothes. All we needed was a new winter coat but it ended up taking hours. She tried on every one we saw and we went back and bought the first one we tried! I see lots more shopping fun in the future! I got the boxes of Christmas decorations out of the loft so I could sort through them and make an early start on my Christmas crafting.…

It seems a while since I shared a great craft book with you. Have you started your Christmas crafting yet? Are you making any handmade gifts this year? I’m not making any big gifts but I’ve made some small decorations. I’ve always enjoyed working with felt so when I read about ‘Tis the Season to be Felty I knew I would be pre-ordering a copy. It’s a follow up to Fa la la la Felt! which came out a few years ago and many of the same designers have contributed to the 40+ projects in this book. As soon as…

A couple of weeks ago I was reading one of my favourite blogs, asking for trouble. Marcelline designs the cutest characters, including gingerbread men and women. She mentioned that there was a free shipping day on Spoonflower so I took the opportunity to order her ‘Sew your own’ gingerbread cookie couple tea towel fabric and it finally arrived, along with some gorgeous prints from Mollie Johnson! It came as a printed panel, featuring a cute gingerbread cookie couple and a handy 2016 calendar. The version is designed to fit Linen-Cotton Canvas, the best choice for tea towels. I was very…

Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have a drawer full of unopened kits. The latest issue included a free calendar which was nice, but I missed my little crafty project. Luckily I picked up a copy of Prima Makes which had a cute little kit to make two festive finger puppet. Today I am bringing you Jenny Makes Prima Makes! Jenny Makes Prima Makes issue 9 Christmas 2015 The kit contained pieces of felt in light brown, light grey, white, dark brown and black. I…

I’ve visited her shop a few times and was pretty excited to discover she runs workshops too. I signed up for a Christmas workshop. On arrival I was handed a little pack of paper items from which I could make three items: Stitched and collaged Christmas cards Collaged and stitched postcard decorations to be placed in your home once complete Decorating pre cut Christmas decorations that will then hang from a string in your…

I love this time of year so much. I got an early start of my festive making with a sew your own Advent Calendar fabric panel from elephant in my handbag. It’s always lovely to make your own decorations and gifts (time permitting!) and I really enjoyed putting my Advent Calendar together over a couple of evenings. I chose the Winter Wonderland panel, designed by Bethan Janine for Dashwood Studio. The panel is 100% cotton and the instructions are cleverly printed at the top of the panel. Once you have the fabric panel you need to buy wadding and some…
