    Sea-Band review and giveaway

When I was pregnant I suffered from morning sickness like many pregnant women. I coped by drinking lots of ginger tea and keeping a supply of ginger biscuits in my handbag. I wish I had heard about Sea-Band acupressure wristbands which have been providing nausea relief to millions of people for over 20 years. They work fast and effectively for all types of nausea including travel and morning sickness.   Gwen Stefani was recently spotted wearing Sea-Bands for her morning sickness and other celebrities including Gail Porter, Ulrika Johnson, Fiona Phillips, Kirsty Gallacher have all been seen wearing Sea-Bands whilst…

    Romance on a school night

Despite being on maternity leave I’m sad that this year’s annual celebration of romance falls on a ‘school night’. We’ll be staying in, and after putting Little Man to bed, we’ll be cooking up a romantic storm in the kitchen. If you want to enjoy a bottle of bubbly this Valentine’s Day but still have a clear head for work the next day (like my husband) then why not try a bottle of Shloer? Shloer uses only the best ingredients to create its delicious non alcoholic sparkling drinks. Available in White Grape, Red Grape, Rosé, Apple and White Grape, White…

    Not quite a water birth

Today Edward is 10 months old! Pregnancy, birth and his first months are passing in a whirlwind. I always meant to write more about his birth last March before I forget. I had a straightforward pregnancy apart from the usual worries over test results and swollen ankles. I was tired during the first trimester, felt full of life during the second trimester and tired again during the third trimester. From 30 weeks Edward was breech so after an unsuccessful ECV I was booked in for an elective caesarean at 38 weeks. Edward was born at 9.41am and I’ve not thought…

Review: The Second Baby Survival Guide

Almost since the day we took Edward home from the hospital I’ve been wondering when was the best time for baby number two. I love Edward and I’m surprised how much I enjoy being a mother. I’m not sure what I expected but the last seven and a half months have been exciting and exhilarating as well as hard work and exhausting 🙂 However, I’m 33 and keen to expand my little family before too long so when I was given the opportunity to review The Second Baby Survival Guide I jumped at the chance. The book was written by…

    Memory box

I’m a hoarder and I’m not afraid to admit it! This is why my job as a curator is perfect as it allows me to collect, catalogue and keep for ever! I’ve always kept momentoes of events – I have boxes full of ticket stubs as well as photographs, programmes and keepsakes. When we got married two years ago I squirreled away a selection of items to remind me of our wedding day – a programme, an invite, some wedding cake, a thank you card, as well as our official wedding album and guest book. I knew I wanted to…

Where do all the Bepanthen samples go?

I’ve just collected my 6 month sample pack from Bounty. I love a freebie and that didn’t change during my pregnancy when I signed up to every mother and baby club I could find. I’ve benefited from lots of samples which have helped me choose the best products for my little boy. I’m brand aware but I wouldn’t say I got sucked in by all the marketing that gets thrown at pregnant women. There was little that interested me in the Bounty pack (except a bar of Galaxy and can of Coke!). I was more interested in the Mama Pack…

    Orla Kiely changing bag

Look at this beauty! A changing bag from my favourite handbag designer Orla Kiely. I saw it in John Lewis a couple of weeks ago and promised myself I would treat myself to it. But now the time has come to buy the last few bits and pieces I just can’t bring myself to pay the hefty price tag. Yesterday I googled changing bags and read some reviews. It seems a bucket may be more useful than a beautifully crafted bag with inner pockets, mobile pocket and key chain. Today I also realised something I had been trying to ignore.…

    Crafty books

I was lucky enough to receive some new craft books for Christmas. Added to my extensive ‘craft’ shelf I now have a copy of Sew by Cath Kidston and Making Chidren’s Clothes by Emma Hardy. I also got a copy of the Sewing 2010 day to day calendar which will hopefully inspire me to use – and not just look at – my lovely sewing basket more often this year. However, only 10 weeks to go until my due date so I’d better make a start on the cot quilt soon!
