We spent the morning at The Waldorf Hilton celebrating Playmobil’s 40th birthday party. As part of the birthday celebrations they launched The Playmobil Suite at The Waldorf Hilton, London. Playmobil are residing at the prestigious hotel from today for 40 days and 40 nights and anyone can book to stay in the exclusive Playmobil Suite. A play haven for the whole family to enjoy over the summer holidays, the spacious suite will allow mummy and daddy to relax as the little ones immerse themselves in creative play with their much-loved Playmobil friends. The collaboration launches Playmobil’s impending ‘Birthday Tour’, where…

We’ve been lucky to have some amazing family days out recently. Last weekend we spent a day at London Zoo thanks to Superbreak who supplied us with a family ticket. A day at London Zoo We love going to the Zoo, especially as we heard there were a few new areas since our last visit. Our first stop was the recreated South American beach landscape called Penguins Beach. We all love the penguins as thanks to the glass walls and underwater viewing areas you can watch them swimming around. We were also lucky enough to see them eating their breakfast…

Last week I received an invitation to a private view and curator’s talk for Dennis Hopper: The Lost Album which opened last week in Burlington Gardens. You might know him best as the director and star of cult classic Easy Rider, but Hopper was also a talented photographer. From 1961 to 1967, his camera rarely left his side and the end result is a remarkable collection of images which document everything from the Civil Rights movement to the street life of Harlem and Hippy culture. You’ll also recognise some of the biggest stars of the time from the worlds of…

Today Big Brother and I were invited to meet the Moomins on a summer musical adventure at the Polka Theatre in south London. It’s not often we go out without Little Sis but as the show is recommended for age 4+ I thought it would be a nice opportunity to see this show together. Tove Jansson’s most iconic characters the Moomins, who have charmed children for generations, take to the stage for Moominsummer Madness. With breathtaking puppetry, heart-warming humour and original songs performed live by actor-musician puppeteers, this musical adventure makes the perfect summer family treat. We arrived at the theatre…

On Sunday we headed to our local ASK Italian for a Mother’s Day meal. We ate in the ASK Italian in Northwood which is in a converted Post Office. I’ve often walked past but never gone in so I was excited about finally venturing inside. I booked online in advance as I knew it would be busy so when we arrived we were immediately taken to our table. The building is really light and airy and makes excellent use of the old sorting office for a spectacular environment to eat. Although there was a special 3 course menu we opted to…

Like most of the UK we have been experiencing our fair share of bad weather lately. The forecast for the weekend was atrocious so instead of staying in with two bored children we decided to head out to visit the Natural History Museum. We were lucky and managed to park 2 minutes from the front door so didn’t get too wet. We hadn’t visited in a while but the children were so excited! Our first stop was the Dinosaurs gallery. The only dinosaur my children knew was Mr Dinosaur from Peppa Pig. In fact Little Sis took her very own…

What a week we’ve had. Coughs, cold, the flu, Christmas plays and parties. Christmas cards written and sent. Christmas gifts almost all wrapped. Mulled wine made and drunk. Christmas tree bought and decorated. This weekend was lovely and quiet (on purpose) and the only things we really wanted to do was get out to our local farmers market and take a ride on the Santa Shuttle. First stop of the day was the Ruislip Artisan Food and Craft Market. We’re so lucky to have this on our doorstep and the children love it. It’s held around the Manor Farm complex…

A couple of weeks ago I went for any eye test at my local Specsavers store in Ruislip. I hadn’t had an eye test since my working days so I was pretty keen to see what shape my eyes were in. The eye test was really thorough and I was surprised at how many different things I had to look at or read. During the tests I felt uncertain about which colours were stronger or which letters were more in focus and convinced myself I was going to need the strongest glasses! However to my surprise my eyes were surprisingly…

Today we were invited to see Peaceful Lion Productions present an adaptation of Nadia Shireen’s ‘Hey, Presto!’ for children aged 3 to 8 and their adults at the Pleasance Islington. Peaceful Lion Productions are a small company with big ambitions, and love putting on shows that appeal to parents and children alike – with a dab of spectacle for good measure. Their new Christmas production is, Hey, Presto! which began on the 4th of December (and runs until the 21st December). We’ve only ever taken them to the theatre once before and thought this would be a lovely treat for…
