A day at the Ally Pally Knitting and Stitching Show

Regular readers know every year I take myself off to the Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally. Despite living in London I never feel that I have a good sewing shop near me so I love looking round all the different exhibitor stalls. Ally Pally is one of my favourite buildings in London and it makes a great venue for the Knitting and Stitching Show. There are lot of large halls- one for the exhibitor stalls, an area for workshops, galleries showcasing some amazing work as well as tea rooms. I’ve been every year for the last couple of…

    Strada Riverside at More London

I mentioned we were invited to dine out at Strada Riverside at More London over the weekend. We all love spending a day in London so hopped on the tube, emerging into misty London at London Bridge station. We headed to the Thames and walked along the Thames path until we got to More London, this is a modern development around City Hall which encompasses office buildings, restaurants and public spaces. Strada Riverside at More London As we were a little early we made use of the open space, admiring the amazing panoramic view, whilst the children played in the…

A day at The Handmade Fair

Today my sister and I spent a day at The Handmade Fair at Hampton Court. We had been looking forward to it for ages as it was a strictly *mums only* event, the children were left at home with daddy for the day. The sun shone and we headed to Hampton Court for our day of crafting and shopping. Our tickets included a Grand Make, Skills Workshop and a Super Theater session. Our first event was a Grand Make and we had chose Tibetan Poetry Bunting. We were given a ready made prayer flag and craft supplies to embellish it.…

Dine with Mr Men and Little Miss at Beefeater

This week we were invited along to our local Beefeater restaurant to experience a family meal and see for ourselves the new refreshed Mr Men menus and activity packs for the little ones. I love our local Beefeater, it is really family-friendly and good value. Dine with Mr Men and Little Miss at Beefeater this summer, along with the themed menu the children were given a fun Mr Men and Little Miss activity booklet and pack of crayons. This kept them busy whilst we were waiting for our food. They especially enjoyed the Mr Men Space Game game which was…

Win a £50 voucher to spend at ASK Italian

My favourite thing about the Summer holidays is spending lots of family time together. We’ve recently enjoyed a week together visiting family, exploring new places and enjoying some delicious meals. Ask my children what they would like for dinner and I know they will shout “pizza” or “pasta”. So lucky for them that they were invited to our local ASK Italian to try out the new children’s menu. You may remember our previous review of ASK Italian in Northwood (wow, doesn’t Little Sis look tiny in those pics!) and I’m pleased to say that our meal was equally delicious. As…

Behind the scenes at the Nickelodeon Store London

On Friday we went along to see behind the scenes at the UK’s first flagship Nickelodeon Store at No. 1 Leicester Square, London. As it was half term both the children were able to join in the fun. We started our day with a delicious brunch at Muriel’s Kitchen nearby then headed over to the new Nickelodeon Store. The new multi-level store includes state-of-the-art multimedia and interactive elements to create a showcase for a broad range of products based on Nickelodeon’s favourite characters, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dora the Explorer.  We had our photo taken with…

    Monday happy things

Goodness me the weeks are going by so quickly. Thankfully my Monday Happy Things post is here to remind me of all the fun things we got up to the previous week. Yesterday my daughter and I spent the day in London. We visited the Museum of Childhood to see Small Stories: At Home in a Dolls’ House. I love dolls houses and this was a beautiful exhibition covering  the small stories of 12 dolls’ houses from the past 300 years. We also saw The Alice Look which was a much smaller display celebrating the 150th anniversary of Alice’s Adventures…

    Exploring nature with Sylvanian Families

My 3 year old loves her Sylvanian Families toys so we planned a fun day out at the weekend – a trip to Hatchlands Park to follow the Sylvanian Families Trail! Hatchlands Park is a beautiful National Trust owned house and parkland in Surrey. The house isn’t open very often but the gardens and parkland are. Although we spent a few hours there we didn’t see much so will be going back again soon. Sylvanian Families nature trail at Hatchlands Park This is the first nature trail in the UK to feature Sylvanian Families, and is part of their global…

    Hand stamped silver

Earlier this year I attended a Hand Stamped Jewellery workshop at the London Jewellery School. The workshop was a gift from my husband who knew I wanted to try something new. The London Jewellery School is over in Whitechapel so I basically hopped on the tube and read my Kindle until I reached the other end of the line. The Hand Stamped Jewellery workshop was a beginners class and a great introduction to working with silver. Class numbers were kept really small and everyone was really friendly. We all had the chance to make a piece completely from scratch using…
