Apps to keep toddlers busy over Christmas!

Big Brother has been a bit poorly which means we’ve been spending lots of time snuggled up indoors trying to find things to do. Fortunately he likes playing games on the iPad and iPhone, in between episodes of Chuggington and coughing, so we’ve been trying out some new apps. Based on the original books by renowned education expert Dr. Lin Day, Stagecoach Education: Project Christmas is the first of the series to be brought to the iPad. Stagecoach was the first ever Educational Course developed for Under 5s and it has been helping to educate a global audience for over…

    Gurgle magazine

There’s a new glossy magazine aimed at modern mum’s just like me and you. It’s called Gurgle and available exclusively in Mothercare stores, Early Learning Centres, or via subscription. So what do you get for the princely sum of £2? I was sent the first copy to review and I loved it. It is packed full of advice on parenting and tips for family life, fashion must-haves, food, travel and celebrity news. I had a good read from cover to cover and will be passing it round my circle of mum friends. Things I liked: appealing front cover fresh layout…

This place is a zoo – iPad app

We were recently offered the chance to review an iPad app called This Place is a Zoo. Edward is drawn to all our electronic gadgets and is particularly attracted to my iPhone and iPad so we were very happy to try it out. The app features Captain Wallace and you join him on a guided visit through the Alphabet Zoo. This Place is a Zoo has been designed to help children learn their alphabet and animals through sights and sounds designed to spark dialogue between parent and child. Edward is only 11 months but is drawn to moving pictures and…

    Swim Baby Swim iPhone app

We were recently asked if we would like to take a swimming course with Anne Hawley who is widely recognised as the pioneer and expert of infant swimming and has been in the profession since 1974. Her reputation and lifelong commitment to safely swimming infants has resulted in her distinct, innovative and unique method of swimming babies being copied all over the world. Anne teaches at locations across London, Surrey and West Sussex. Unfortunately we weren’t able to take up the offer of swimming lessons but luckily for us they have released an iPhone/ iPad app called Swim Baby Swim,…

A tourist in our own city

Today we met my cousin and her family as she hadn’t yet met Edward. We had lunch in the cafe at the Mamas and Papas on Regent Street. The food is delicious, the location is perfect and it’s never too busy as not many people seem to know about it. Edward got lots of kisses and couples from his adoring great aunt and cousins, and pressies too, so he was very excited. After lunch we went for a walk around central London. Although we often pop into the West End we never seem to have time to relax and be…

Product review: Nigella Quick Collection iphone app

I recently offered to review an iPhone app for the Nigella Quick Collection. This app contains lots of recipes ideas for quick meals, laid out in 6 steps or less, and allows you to choose what to cook based on what key ingredient you have available. My little one is too young to cook with just yet (and he hasn’t enjoyed the purees I’ve slaved over) so I used the app with my three nieces, age 6, 14 and 18. They older two nieces decided to make something for dinner and the younger niece wanted to make some cakes. For…

    Lovely Cath Kidston iphone cover

Look what was waiting for me when I returned from the Isle of Wight yesterday – my lovely new Cath Kidston iphone cover. It’s almost perfect, the only part I don’t like is that it’s branded with the Cath Kidston logo on the inside – thankfully it can’t be seen when it’s on!

    Cath Kidston iphone case

Easy Living magazine had a choice of two Cath Kidston bags with this months issue. I never buy the magazine but did today-just for the bag. I chose the pop flowers print and have already used it to carry nappies and bottles for a trip out today! The magazine also has a 15% voucher for Cath Kidston and a copy of the latest catalogue. I’ve been a bit disappointed with their childrens clothes and complete lack of maternity clothes. However, I was really excited to see Cath Kidston iPhone covers! They come in four patterns: mini dot cherry, electric flowers…
