Living in London it’s important that we escape to the seaside as often as possible. We always come back with plenty of treasures from the beach including sea glass, smooth pebbles and shells. We’ve tried to make these into souvenirs, such as the fillable wooden letter filled with sea glass we made earlier this year. It’s been a while since we had fun with a sensory activity but the warmer weather is perfect for a beach themed sensory play. It is also a great way to remind us of previous summer holidays. First of all we used FIMO modelling clay…

It’s time for my favourite post of the week, my Monday happy things. We spent the last week at my mum’s which was lovely. The weather was great and we spent every day out exploring the beautiful countryside. We visited Salisbury and had fun looking for the Barons’ Charter sculptures. The Barons’ Charter includes 25 life-sized decorated medieval baron sculptures displayed as an art trail across the city. The trail is open until 6th September and well worth a visit. They will then be auctioned to raise money for The Trussell Trust, the UK’s leading poverty charity. Our favourite sculpture…

I’m so late with my weekly Monday happy things post. With half term in sunny Devon and my husband’s 40th birthday today we’ve been really busy, but in a good way. – I finished The Miniaturist (which I loved) and have just started reading The Secrets Sisters Keep! by Sinead Moriarty which is looking promising. – I came home to my sweet new acrylic prints which I had ordered from Truprint as a Mother’s Day gift to myself. I chose two of my favourite photographs of the children and turned them into acrylic prints which, at 6×4″, fit perfectly on my…

The Summer holidays are flying by and I’m quite enjoying writing about our adventures. Over the last week we have been on holiday and had a few busy days in London. Here’s what we’ve been up to: We visited a beautiful National Trust property called Stoke-sub-Hamdon Priory situated between Yeovil and Ilminster. Despite being National Trust members we rarely visit any properties so it was lovely to make a brief visit and explore the site. We also re-visited Nunney Castle as Little Sis demanded to go to a castle. Whilst we were away we spent lots of time outdoors. We…

The summer holidays are rushing by very quickly. I enjoyed looking back at the first week of the holidays so thought I would do it all again. Big Brother and I attended our last The Creation Station session. I’m not sure he realises he won’t be going again (due to starting Reception in September) but we’ve had a great time and enjoyed spending time together too. He also had a fun playdate with a friend from nursery. The weather was really hot so they played in the paddling pool and I think he enjoyed a little time away from us.…

This week we’re enjoying a sunny break in Devon at our favourite cottage. The front door of our cottage opens out onto the beach and the children have been perfecting the art of sandcastle making and hunting for pirate treasure. pirate treasure straight from the beach There has been plenty of time for me to browse round the local charity shops. I was imagining discovering armfuls of vintage games, linens and quirky seaside souvenirs to brighten up our home. However, despite much looking, my bag is pretty empty. I lucked out on playing cards, picking up a pack of the…

In 2011 Morrisons launched its M Kitchen range, a range of convenience meals that is named after the real life kitchen that sits at the heart of Morrisons HQ in Bradford. Here, a team of expert chefs, under the guidance of Morrisons executive chef of product development, Neil Nugent, work hard to bring you those tasty meals and sauces that are popped into the trolley. The M Kitchen team is continuously coming up with new ideas for tasty, quality dishes to satisfy all those customers which come through Morrisons’ doors each week. Now, almost exactly two years on, there are over…

I’m very proud to say that today is Day 2 of our holiday and we’ve used our National Trust membership on two consecutive days! We’ve been members for years but have found the children never really enjoyed our trips – until now! Yesterday we had a lovely walk around Avebury stone circle and today we were at Lacock Abbey. Family fun at Lacock Abbey It’s been a while since I last visited and is now laid out through the memories of the last resident, Matilda Talbot. The children enjoyed following the children’s trail, watching the Zoetrope go round and spotting…

We’re having a super busy week. On Monday we had a fun family day out at Legoland. Both children loved it and the amazing weather we’re finally enjoying in London definitely helped. On Tuesday we visited the toddlers’ new school and I attended my first parent’s meeting! For the last couple of days we’ve been enjoying the beautiful countryside and staying with my mother. I bravely took the children on the train on my own and I have never seen my children so excited or happy as on that train journey. Today we were joined by my husband before we…
